no one kicks up a fuss when you do a couple of hundred kms through the twisties in the mountains on a friday night! Noble Park to Calder Park is 60kms and 49 minutes (probably close to 1.5 hours in friday arvo traffic!) to get to- even if it was in heathcote on a wednesday night, i'd still rather go to that, no matter how far away it is!
lets face it- you cant expect a drag strip to be built in the middle of the city, so no matter where it is, you'll have to travel
I don't understand why Bob Jane and Calder Park cant see the reason why people aren't turning up? Its almost like they do know- but they simply don't give a shit!
They need to support the drag racing community which supports them! I feel ripped off when I go and race at calder, and what makes it even worse, is that they don't give a flying fuck. they dont care if you only get 2 runs in on a busy night, but the motorbikes get 5 or 6. They dont care about people not wanting to see a burnout comp and want to see drag racing which they paid good money to do/watch. They dont care about your average "ricer" in their hotted up import. they don't give a shit about anything- except money?
and here I was thinking Bob Jane was supposed to be a legend?
I know its a business which needs to survive, but FFS- just because you do a new (shitty) job at patching up the track, or building a new fence between the pits and the stands- doesn't mean you can bump the prices up! Thats what budgeting is for!
Hopefully they can get it right sometime soon- otherwise 'Calder Park Legal Off-Street Drag Racing' is going to be a thing of the past!
Bob- if you read this mate: YOU SUCK, move over, and let ME run the show!!
