Are there bolt pattern differences between 7 and 6bolt sumps? I think it maybe a 1 bolt difference at the front on the front cover. Can someone confirm?

Do all 7bolt oil pumps have the 2 bosses for the rvr 2g style cas? All the pics on ebay show the mounts. I cannot find a 6bolt pump that has the cas bosses. Yet...(need to look at the last of the 6bolt sonata pumps)

The sumps are different. The bottom of the oil pump case is rounded on the 7 bolt, and the sump reflects that, where the 6 bolt is flat.

Yep, I can do the convert thing (aka roadrace engineering) and run a 7bolt housing on my 6bolt.
They have a good page on it.

So lets compare:

Thanks for the flat bottom description. It is easy to spot now.

Yep I can see the bulge on the bottom so it needs a different sump. I pick this by the 2 bosses near the oil pressure relief that are for the crank sensor.

But look at this one.

It has a bigger bulge so it needs its matching sump. But looks like the gasket is the same as the 6bolt but it has the cas as well.

Edit. ↑this is a ef pump so I think it is a 3g 7bolt and no good but the ofh is cool and puts the filter out the front at a angle. Would be interesting to see it go on a 2g. (just quietly and I will sneak this in to see if anyone notices. A guy is tuning the ef ecu and says they are a evo8 ecu and evoscan flashes them no problems. ..) woohoo?

I want a easy solution to running a rvr style cas and cam sensor so I can fit a bigger w2a intercooler on top of the gearbox. It would be easier if I had of chosen a 7bolt...
 
Found a guy on a starion forum and he made a plate where the balance belt tensioner was. I will just do that. He actually cut the belt guide to use as the chopper wheel. I might do something a bit better than that
 
you can cut and shut a section out of the front of the sump and pulse tig weld it to keep distortion down to a minimum ;)

or drill the holes and weld the other holes shut, if you are fussy, I would weld em shut


my grandma has ocd so i think i got a bit of it too :huh:
