Hey Guy's,

I'm replacing the timing belt and I need the Mitsu genuine part number for either the cam cover seal or cam cover seal kit to suit VR4 4g63t.

And can someone confirm that MD359158 is the rear main seal.

cheers,
Dave

Do you mean tappet cover gasket set?
I got a full kit from Meek for about $60, includes even the oil cap rubber seal. :)

I work at and can order them through Super Cheap Auto, but I've been assured that genuine seals won't leak. ;)

I have ACL seals at the moment, but after 8,000 odd km there is an oil leak. I dunno, maybe they don't like synthetic oil.

I have Permaseal ones in mine, no leaks at all.
generic cheap oil seal gaskets are what they are and you pay for what you get, as for permaseal sets I've only had 3 sets fail before they should of so the permaseal gaskets are pretty good percentage wise.

I haven't used anything other than OEM seal through out my engine rebuild and exterior on my engine is dry as a nun's @unt

Well good for you John.
My last Permaseal valve cover set was in the car for over 3 years with no leaks so I guess they aren't all crap :) It's pretty hard to get a piece of rubber wrong
Meek also doesn't sell the original gaskets as a stock replacement.
This is from Chris's site.
Rocker Cover Gasket Set 4G63
Kit includes outer seal, half moon plug, spark plug seals and oil cap seal.
This kit seals better than the genuine gaskets.

A common mistake is not putting some silicone sealant on particular areas of the rocker cover gaskets, especially on those half moon seals.

Next time I have to do that gasket can you come and supervise Rob? I don't like pulling things apart just after I've put them together. :p
I've asked a few people about where to use silicon on them but the answers have been quite vague.

From the bible of course.

You also apply it to the corners where the rocker cover gasket goes up and over the cams (near the cam gears). Or just go nuts and smear it everywhere.

Thanks Rob. I'm just downloading the manual again now.
Sorry to the thread starter about all of the off topicness.

Good for you too I didn't buy my gasket seal through Chris they all came from Steve Bell Ralliart at competitors discount rate and that was cheaper than Permaseal lol
