With the recent trouble i've been having i thought i'd ask if anyone else has encountered these problems and what they have done to fix them.
Several times over the last few weeks it seems my cam sensor pickup has come loose and destroyed my sensor as a result.
The problem i have is that you cannot overtighten the bolt or it pulls the cam and binds it up. Ive been tightening it up as much as i can without binding the cam and putting a s**t tonne of loctite on the bolt but its slowly and more aggressively coming loose. Last time it only took about 120 km of driving before it was slapping around its housing on the cam again. Ive tried this several times but loctite and a fair torque on it seems to get me nowhere.
Does this sound correct with the cam binding if over tightened? How did/do you get around this if a crap tonne of loctite wont hold the bolt? Or is there something else at play with my sonata head perhaps and thats causing my issues? I never had this issue nor did previous owner with the rvr head but in saying that i never disturbed the bolt, only to swap it onto the sonata head did it start playing up after a while..
If someone has encountered this before please shed some help on a poor hapless man at the end of his wits...

I dont get what's going on here. You have a sonata head, so you dont have the sensor under the intake can wheel..

So its the cam/crank sensor on the gearbox end of the head.
What bolt binds the cam up?

Isn't the sensor itself meant to be soldered onto its mounting plate? If its not, that may be why its failing.

Ive since redone it and it seems to be holding for now, but the underlying problem is that the bolt holding the pickup to the end of the cam keeps coming loose (obviously because it is spinning with the cam at stupid RPM)
If i did it up too tight it binds the cam in that it gets very tough to turn and if started with it binding it squeals its head off and sounds like something bad would happen i let it run more than 2 seconds.
Ive since done it up to torque spec, tried a harsher loctite and let cure for 2 days and it seems to be holding for now. not sure if there is an underlying problem or not but its fixed for now. I did it up to 25 (factory spec is 22+-4)
Thanks for the spec sheet para, will come in handy.

Taz there is something more that is wrong with the setup, You must be able to torque the bolt to correct spec & it shouldn't bind anywhere. Can you post a pic of the setup please.

Cheers

Torquing to specify doesn't bid the cam. Over tightening it does, the problem being to specify wasn't good enough to hold it. Still holding now though so 3rd times the charm??
