F*#k me...i have never had so much fkin bad luck in my life....

as i have put the water pump back in one of the bottom studs has broken off......

Bcos its in an absolut C*nt of a spot and not accesible to anything,it looks like ill have to lower the motor into the wheel arch to work on it..

is this doable..ie unbolt mounts put engine/gearbox on jack and lower it??

oh noes x11tybillon!

your not having much fun with this are you? :(

would it be easier to lower or raise the engine?

remove front and rear engine mounts while supporting the engine with a block of wood on the transfer case and sump (dodgy i know) then remove the north/south crossmember.

with the motor supported, fully remove the cam side engine mount, using the jack you can go up and down, just be careful the cam side of the motor will get very close to the chassis rail.

have fun!

You could try to unbolt the passenger side mount and unbolt the whole subframe from the car and lower that down with a jack. May have to disconnect clutch and fuel lines, possibly shifter cables, earth straps etc.

if i pivotted on the gearbox mount i think by the time i got it down far enough the side of the motor and all the came gear etc would be hitting on the side of the chassis...

Undo the drivers side mount and drop the hole shebang including subframe down. (This is the easiest way to get all the gear out of a front cut, you drop it all down and then lift the body up and over it).

so more or less follow the same procedure for engine removal?

do u know if C.V's and steering rack would put up with this?

Streering rack will be fine.

Just undo the passenger mount and the front and rear mounts. Support the engine properly with either a crane or jack.

Dont let it slip cos it will destroy the gearbox mount.
