would you be using the vr4 for parts?

would it need to be able to be registered?

Parts. I'm keen to move onto my next project.

What I ideally want, is someone who can go through all the hassle of importing a car like this. I dont know what to do or where to ask when a car like this comes up.

I'm sure you could get this car for around 4k landed?

Call... Craig I think his name is... at J-spec.com.au. Might charge you a grand, but he can sort it all out. If you need someone to race/rally it (ie: it's post 89), you'll haveta get someone with a C3/N3 cams license (AKA Rusty, Daz) to do it for you.

Hmm, i've been trying to negotiate with ben @jspec on this C73a GSR, they want $3000 more than what i'm prepared to pay for it though

The following car is currently available through a supplier in Japan - the price is 400,000 yen FOB which works out to be around $8,600 landed including shipping, import duty, GST and our service fee (excluding compliance & registration costs)

The initial payment should be around $4,600 for the FOB price, plus $1,000 for our service fee - other payments would not be due until after the vehicle arrives in Australia.

1989 Mitsubishi Lancer GSR turbo
1600cc turbo 4WD
5 speed manual
gunmetal grey
117,000 km's
No major accident history
Power steering
Power windows
Air conditioner
Rare car to find these days
Not many of these left in Japan
More photos available on request
Mechanic inspection can be arranged

First registered in 1989
Could be 1988 build date

... available now for 400,000 yen FOB .. around $8,600 landed excluding compliance

Theres no way i'm going to pay 10k complied for a stock C73a GSR.

I'm not even going to waste my time with john verban, he hasnt answerd an email of mine in about a year!

Those cyborgs are also from the heavy snow areas of japan, like the black EVO 0 at the top of the page, nice if you want a car for parts, but I wonder how much rust is actually in them?

*EDIT* he's lowered his prices!!! $3600 uncomplied, pretty damn cheap, and quite possibly worth a trip to adelaide......

You fool (no offense)

John NEVER answers emails. Get on the damned phone and ring the guy.

Shipping to melb of the car should be about 164 dollars.

I got my vr4 from him. Never had a hassle with him.

my wife just told me about a bloke at her work that just got a 91(i think) imported with aus compliance rego for 12 months plus sponsor badging for 8k aud....

maybe i can have a word with him if anyone's interested..i know i am...

400k yen is 4600 odd dollars he's right.

But that's only FOB (FREE ON BOARD)

You then need to add:

Shipping
Customs Duties
Import Tax
Dock Fees
etc

I was pointing out the fact that their conversion was wrong and were going to charge $8600 not including compliancing meaning the company/car dealership was going to make close to 100% profit on the deal.

Thanks for the kind words to Jase

You are still wrong, $8700 INCLUDES Shipping and handling, $4,594 is if you want to pick it up in Japan  (drive it back maybe  )

Hey! :D lol (none taken)

Cut it out-if your trying to sell shit via the internet, you have to answer emails. Period. Perhaps if he took some people seriously, i'd already own one of those cyborg sedans, at alot more than what he's offering now.

His bad.

I shipped my VR' when I first bought it for $200.50 from adelaide to melbourne, roll on roll off, uncovered with insurance. Via TNT.

^^What Troy said.

I hate when people bag out the importers for ripping them off, they aren't making the money, the agents in Japan are.
