Hey All,

I just found this site which is from a Tuning company in Finland who do some pretty cool restoration work.

Sure its not Mitsubishi, but it is Rally related :)

Its an ex Group B Celica which was driven by Juha Kankkunen in the 1985 Hong Kong Rally.

When people say ground up restoration, they are generally lying becuase this really is a complete restoration. I love the bit with the intrument restoration and the way in which they clean all the bolts.

Its 300 odd photos, but stick at it becuase some of the work they do is really facinating.

check out the price tag on the finished products too.

i guess there is alot of work/history there

Yeah had already seen that. Unbelievable workmanship. They are more like artists or master craftsmen than mechanics and panel beaters.

I just about blew when i saw the Audi S1

We attempted to do that on a Fiat X1/9.

It was a full bare metal respray, fully rebuilt engine and gearbox, interior etc. I cleaned some of the bolts on the bench grinder with wire brush fitting but didn't go as far as to have all those things electroplated....but it does seem to be good idea. Not that it was in that bad a state, but a few we looked at sure were close. My cousin is working on a Fiat 500 and has pretty much had to replace all the panels with new ones due to the rust!

It takes AGES!!! and the car is still not fast enough :x haha

What a shame that after all that work it has to sit in a museum and no one gets to drive that Group B monster!!!

Lucky you didn't see the Lancia S4 then... the intercoolers are both so shiny...

Really, I love this kind of thing, my favourite 2 pictures are of the engine bay before and after, and they even used the same kind of concertina hose...
