Hey guys just bought a evo 3 had an electrical problem with couple wires got that sorted out with an auto elec so car is getting ignition now but wont start, checked if it had spark which it did, ( mind you car hasnt been started for like 1.5 years- 2 years) bought it like that but low compression but wouldnt the car still start? also when ignition is on the fuel line is contantly on as u can hear it..... any suggestions?

iv changed the spark plugs thats all iv done for now it has more than half a tank of fuel but dont kno how long the fuel has been sitting for, any suggestions would be great guys :)

cheers Taz

pretty sure timming is right but im missing a harmonic balancer that sits infront of the crankshaft would that have anything to do with it? injectors are working as the auto elec guy checkd them out which they are pumoing out fuel

Something doesn't sound right with the pump constantly priming. Check relay under ur cd player.

Otherwise I assume everything is standard and stock, so first check fuel is getting trough the rail (take off return line) then if move onto checking spark (which u have) ten I'd test crank angle sensor (multimeter, or even try starting and fiddling with it)

If still nothing I'd be looking at signals to and from ecu from different points like crank, afm ect.

Also is the check engine light constantly on or like normal switch off after a few seconds

ill try fiddle around with the crank angle sensor, but a mate of mine was telling me maybe its my fuel filter might be clogged up as its been siting there for couple years, i havent checkd the cams thats a good idea tho :)

Could you explain the sentence above a bit...?
Also...no offence...but that car is not an Evo 3...Its a GSR with an Evo motor.

I would say its got something with the Microtech

And what do you mean you have no harmonic balancer?? no HB means u wont have the alternator belt, power steering belt or the A/C belt, as they all get used by the HB

Yeah that's why I said check fuel is coming out the rail. If it isn't look at the pump or filter.

Also if car hasn't been used in that long. First thing i would do before cranking would be new filters, oil, coolant, plugs, leads. Full service

Where snouts u from?

doesnt bother me about oil filter n oil as im re doing the bottem end yor kno, im from the south eastern suburbs (endeavour hills)

ok good news guys, just tried starting it this morning without doing anyting to it and it started!! =D for a little then died out to much fuel is dumping through, once you open the bonnet all you can smell is fuel BIGTIME, now im running a microtech computer car hasnt been started for 1.5 - 2 years, has nearly a full tank of fuel which i really wanna dump it out before i do anything else and re fresh it with new fuel.... any suggestions guys? cheers

New fuel would be optimal. Possible that Engine is flooding? My mates wouldn't start due to flooding, but he had 2 fuel pumps in his car

Well that's if it's flooding. It could be your fuel pressure regulator. Or we should look at your fuel set up. I might be able to pop over Saturday night or sunday and have a look for you :) pm me :)

Maybe fuel is too old
if you keep tryin to start it you will flood it. smell your oil and if it smells like fuel you will need to change it. let it settle for about 20mins then try again. This time when it starts keep the revs up
make sure no fuel leaks. check injectors for leaks
