CAS installation guide ?

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

-Disconnect the battery

-Mark with a pen/marker the outline of the CAS that is already fitted

-Undo the plug on the harness then 2 bolts holding the CAS on the head

-Slide out, making sure you you see which side the alignment dowel/pin thingee is on, as it can be installed 180° out

-Slide in until it fits on to the cam, then put the 2x bolts back on but not tight

-Line up with previous timing marks, tighten bolts

-Plug in, battery on, check for leaks (and that it works) and you're done

if starting fresh...
line up timing marks ( cam and crack ).
Line up cas marks (dot to line). Install.

If it doesn't start, easy fix, spin the teeth 180deg and re install

If you want to get really serious, you can set your ECU to 0* advance and use a timing light to flash the timing marks on your cam pullies. Pull your leads off or plugs out (earthing No 1 so you still get a spark....) and turn the motor a few times and see how far off your pulley marks are. Adjust CAS until lined up proper. Remember it's the only thing your ECU gets as a reference to engine position, so you should get it as close as you can. If your CAS is 5* out, your ECU says 37* @ 4000rpm wot, your engine may actually see 42*, could be the difference between ping and no ping.

The knock sensor might retard if you are picking up knock, but you don't want knock in the first place... that's why data logging is so important once you start modding these cars!
