What's everyone's opinion of mounting the catch can high or low in the engine bay?

Some people say the can should be mounted so the inlet/outlet is above the rocker cover, but does it really make a difference?

I figure once the vapor has been pushed into the hoses it's going to go into the can either way..?

never heard anything about mounting position, could be wrong but id suspect the air flows in a certain direction under throttle and with throttle closed height isnt going to change anything.

Same ↑↑ I don't see position affecting anything. I think a lot of the time it comes down to how much real estate you have underhood.
The only things that might differ between the two ways would be the lower mount might allow any condensed vapour to dribble into the can even with the engine off. If it's mounted in a spot that might be accessible underneath the car you can easily drain it with the oil changes, but you wouldn't see the level easily so I think there is a trade off.
I have mine slightly higher, but have a long clear tube which is easily sighted with a tap on the end because it's mounted in a PITA spot.

Yeah I was hoping that was the case, I have no room at all.

I'm upsizing the breathers on my rocker cover to AN-10 and my current can doesn't accept fittings that size so I need to upgrade.

Looking to mount it down on the chassis rail in front of the gearbox.

High = hoses would be higher. As vapours and oil exit the rocker cover into the lines, it allows the liquid to potentially flow back into the engine after condensing.

Low = zero chance of oil return. This may mean good usable oil could be wasted.

If you are running a return to the block then no probs.

Nah no return, I figure that's pointless as I mostly collect condensation and sludge rather than oil - although there is obviously a percentage of oil in there, I don't like the idea of it circulating back through the system.
