Hey all,

Just got that Jazz Catch Can in the mail today (someone had linked it to me as reccomended), but being the complete newbie I am, is there any writeup on where to connect the hoses, etc? (pictures). Any info would be appreciated.

This is the can I purchased (I currently have it mounted with superglue...haha- soon to hopefully be more secure):

http://cjsupra.kendra.com/PCV-Can.html
(For those interested: the price is actualy $62)

My question, where on the evo intake manifold do I connect the hoses?

Thanks,

(oh and yes, I searched but wasn't up to the task of wading through a million different random posts that picked up the keyword)

Simple... there are 2 hoses... one goes into the hose on the left hand side of the rocker cover, the 2nd one goes to the one at the back of the rocker cover. There's some pics around here somewhere...

Ok, cool, I'll dig around and see if I can find those spots. If you're able to dig up any of those pics let me know ;)

Here's the first pics I found on my computer... thanks to ENVY IT

Then of course, you can alloy weld in your own -AN larger diameter bungs for thicker hose... ie Rob Barac's pic below...

Thanks, but no thanks. That doesn't solve the problem of an inferior search engine and the inability to search topic titles only.

I think GSRWRC suggestion was quite valid and you should have a think before "'ll just post it up on the forum and wait for somone else to find the answer for me". There is pages and pages of info, have a read thrugh it you may learn the answer to the question you are about to ask tomoro...
Have a think about what you are asking, you wanna kno how to hook up a catch can, (apart from it tells you how to do it in the link YOU posted up) have a look at some pictures of other peoples cars and you will see how they have done it. Its all very well to be new to cars but you have to be proactive about learning not just expect others to help you with simple things all the time.

It's been said time & time again, and I even started my post off with what a piece of shit (excuse my french) that I think this forums search engine is (phbb vs. vbulletin). Others have agree'd with my point.

What is the sense in searching through countless threads trying to possibly find a thread that's just hitting keywords within threads. Sure I could spend the 30minutes it might take to sift through, or I could simply make a thread entitled exactly what I was looking for and have a friendly forum user help me out. Unless of course you're worried about consuming bandwidth/extra posts? Seriously... a search "thread titles only" option is needed. ;/

It wasn't the install notes I was looking for, it was the actual placement of the hoses (thus me asking for pics). So with that said, those install instructions did not help with that. Nice try.

With all that said, I've more or less noticed a very elitist "go search noob" attitude when it comes to as you said "simple questions." Why not just give a simple answer rather then send someone to a terrible forum search engine? It baffles me. That or don't reply at all. Thanks.

YES the cat is out of the bag  :p

Ill get a pic of what I just did on the weekend

Scratch that! Read this and the picture: http://4gtuner.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2024&start=75

For a quick search on Google for the PCV: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCV_valve

Remember for legal reasons (emissions) the pipes (one really) must be plumbed into the catch can and then into the intake (no breather/filter), and you should retain the PCV valve and not plumb that into the catch can. (The manifold has its own vacuum source instead of the intake tube which works the PCV as in the above link).

Remember, the whole reason for the catch can is to take out excessive oil out of the crankcase BEFORE it enters the intake

If you had even read the link I gave you would have learned how to narrow down a search.
Anyway, thats the difference between me and you. I'll quite happily do research into a mod I plan to do, before running out and buying a part. This quite often involves searching several times on this and other forums. In fact I can't remember the last time I actually posted a thread with a technical question on any forum.

Just about every thread you make includes "Yes, I've searched but..." which to me (and others) screams "Too lazy to have a proper look, I'd like my answer on a nice bling silver platter - don't spare the trimmings"
People will often be more helpful if you have shown a willingness to put your own effort in. Otherwise you'll find you get less and less replies to your threads.

Couldn't of said it better myself, we have been on Mitsu forums for many years watching New Noobs do this all the time, you cant quite blame us at all. As every time I log on here it seems that there's a new thread started by a Canadian new Evo owner that's such a blatant lazy ass, no research, please hand me on a platter and answer, as I'm too lazy to research anything, I've just bought, or a idiot question about a noise your car makes that's very common and had been covered in threads a billion times before.

Cop it on the chin and learn something from what's been stated above and take heed, you will empower yourself and hopefully spread this to the rest of the New Evo Canadian owners club as well.

Too many new evo owners don't read enough of the older posts on this and other forums to research and learn at the same time about their new ride's....End of Rant.

Not that I disagree, but I believe deviantek is American. :)

There's always a few pricks on any given forum, so I don't mind your insults.... HOWEVER, the point I've made over and over again is not that I don't search (as I do in every other functioning practical forum search engine) but rather pertains to this sites specific engine.

Being that apparently it's being upgraded to vbulletin should make searching a practical and useful tool which then nullifies the primary discussion of this thread. Good day.
