Cb lancer strange light issue

Hey the car is a cb lancer which I think uses alot if the same set up as a galant with wiring.

The issue: I open the door and interior lights don't turn on. I turn head light on, parkers and dash light up but no headlight or high beams. Also no clock or stereo.
Once I start the car clock turns on so does stereo, so does interior light ad so does head lights. Once I turn it off but leave acc on, everything turns off (clock slowly fades) what is going on here. I've checked every fuse in the car and they are fine

could it be a wiring issue between the battery and the fuse box? if everything works whilst being driven from the alternator...maybe a couple of loose wires or something, seems very strange

Hmm. I shall check connections any other ideas. Relays?

check the fuse box in the engine bay. I had same problem but opposite headlights on - no dash lights. Ended up being one of the fat fuse or just the connection port. I had bolt to jam it in place so it would work till I came around to "really" fix it :lol:

Yeah. I'm leaning towards a relay in the engine bay. I have a spare box kicking around so will tax some relays from it

And the alternator isn't charging battery?

yea i reckon he must be moonlighting as a mechanic or auto sparky and getting us to fix all the cars. ive never known 1 car to have so many issues

This is a new car bro. The other was a cc coupe this is a cb hatch.

Ha ha ha. The cc was fine with my old motor. Just a few small things every now and again. Then went to turbo and never had it running properly. Then it went kaboom. So I'm gonna build a new motor from scratch.
Then I got my cb. And it's fine. Just this small issue with interior which I think is the relay. I'm swapping the alternator for my spare today to see If it makes a difference it's only putting out 12.7v. It should be over 13 yeah?

as long as it keeps above 12v with everything turned on. ie. highbeam, fans, demister, wipers, interior light...

Ok I'll run it for half an hour or so and see if it drops under 12. Otherwise I've heard that if you disconnect the battery the car should run fine if alternator is good. If it's bad car will die. Is this true?

ok, headlights are fed from the 'on' position on the key, so if the key is turned off, the headlights turn off. this is a courtesy thing to stop you draining your battery when you forget to turn lights off. you can rewire to fix this if you want.

it seems there is a fault with the interior light power feed, i reckon the clock is on the same circuit too, and the stereo has been patched in as well. there is power to the circuit but it is fed only at run, rather than permanent.
does the clock remember the time or does it forget every time?
is the stereo standard?
find the fuse for the interior light and remove it, does that stop the clock, stereo, and interior light?
with the fuse removed, check the fuse holder for power in different key positions and report back your findings

Um the clock cd player remembers time/ settings I'll test the fuse power at different key settings when I get home
