Hi Guys

Ive tried looking in the search engine for this topic but for some reason it isnt working for me.

Basically just wanna know as im going to slap a Evo lll turbo on my car (94 cc gsr) what other parts need to go with this upgrade to get it running sweet.

Turbo
Evo lll Injectors
Uprgraded Fuel pump

Evo lll AFM?
Evo lll computer?

Cheers

you can run the evo tdo05 16g on it's own if you so choose. i myself am in the process of collecting evo bits to use with my td05

you'll want
evo or magna 609afm
evo intake pipe (the 609 afm has an oval outlet)
evo 510cc injectors
evo ecu
you can also move up to the te magna TB which is a good 5 or so mm larger than gsr

There is not enough room to run the evo intake pipe with standard airbox. I trimmed the filter and air box and intake pipe ribs to get them to fit. you need to find about 30mm.
I have removed these modified parts from my car if you need something.

thanks mate ill keep it in mind. Think i should be right ive got a pretty handy mate that will be able to knock something up for me if i need it!.

Cheers

Yea, not hard. trim the ribs on the pipe where it hits the cas.
Trim the filter hard on the non sealing side. redo the clips top and bottom so the filter is clamped tight.
Take the airbox off its mounts. easy

Sorry to steal your post here.
So the evo ecu is plug and play?
And don't you need the down pipe to suit the td05?

Isn't it also a good idea to chip the evo ecu when running on a gsr motor. Or is it chip the gsr ecu when running evo parts?

I'm actually contemplating selling my vr4 turbo kit. Was going to put it on my cb with a galant 2L

Td0516g
4g63 mani
Dump pipe
2.5" exhaust (up to fuel tank)
Lotus twin tip muffler
Vr4 cooler pipes,
vr4 throttle body,
Vr4 cooler
Vr4 injectors
Vr4 ecu
Vr4 MAF
Vr4 intake pipe
Vr4 cams
Metal bov
Stock boost control solenoid
Fuel pressure solenoid

I also have another td05 16g with a screamer pipe (also has a 20g comp housing and wheel to go with it to upgrade if you like) has 17psi actuator, brand new exhaust housing

Evo3 injectors

A spare non turbo 2L

And a pair of microtech ecu's

I know alot of the vr4 stuff is useless to you but if any of that stuff you need let me know and see where we go :)

I thought people use to say the TD05 16G is too big for the 1.8L 4G93T, need more rpm, bit lag-ish?

Few years back I remember people suggesting the smaller VR4 turbo (Forgotten number, TD05 14B?) IRRC?

Anything bigger, piping, turbo, cooler ect will increase lag due to large volume to fill the system.

But also a smaller motor generally revs higher than a larger. A 1.8 should rev slightly higher than a 2L anyways
Or de-stroke a 2L to 1.8 :p rev it's tits off. Bwahaha.

Another option could be a boost controller

It not so much the td05hl (16g) is to big its that the ar ratio on the turbine is all to wide. The td05h (14b) has a tighter ar to help it spool faster. Which make it all more ideal however I think with a good aftermarket manifold some of this disadvantage can be reduced. I currently run a td05 16g and tbh it's no that much slower to spool. And come on much smother than the stock td04h 13t. It also has a lot more cfm for when you up the boost. Can easily run up to and above 20 pound on a 16g on a 93t

Yeah. You need the comp wheel and matching housing (or port your housing to match. You could even use the 20g wheel and comp housing on the 14b if you wanted to.
It's still a td05 so rear end is the sane (ports can be different) also 14b's also have a smaller comp housing inlet so you'll still have to deal with the smaller intake restriction.
But if your looking for a 16g, I have one fs already. I added more details on it up top :) pretty much brand new rear housing (with ports) 17psi actuator as well

Nah g I've got a 16g already the 14b has a 6cm2 turbine housing on the exhaust where the 16g has a 7cm2 also the 14b has a tighter ar in the turbine side meaning slightly faster spool quicker to bring the compressor into its efficiency range. What I'd do is mount the 16g compressor onto a 14b's turbine much like the guys do with 20g's onto 16's to keep that tighter turbine housing

yeo can be the differance between a lag monster and and punchy street ride might keep an eye out for a vr4 14b to molest

best option for the 4g93 guys is to start with a td05h 14b (with th 6cm^2 turbine housing) which is the same size as the stock td04l. and then upgrade the compressor housing and wheel to allow for similar flow of a true 16g.
