Cant fork out cash to have locksmith do the job and I need to get the car out of that carpark asap. How do you do the whole screwdriver thing to start the car so I can at least get it home and work on it properly later?

Didn't get a chance to do much with it today so it'll spend another night in the carpark unfortunately. Part of me wishes that it gets stolen and written off. The rest of me will more than likely be spending another night in the carpark with blankie and steel bar. I'm over it already!

I have a barrel and matching door locks foe CC if you need mate.

...to make matters worse when I got back to the car today I saw a folded piece of paper in the wipers. Opened it up and it was a guy leaving his details coz he had hit and cracked my front bumper! Good on him for being honest, I must admit, and I am thankful for that. But can you imagine if he hadn't left his details and I found out later after all of this that I had to repair my bumper as well!!! AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!

Growing up in NZ it was unfortunately second nature to not leave any sort of modified/performance/classic car parked anywhere that wasn't in plain sight as it could literally disappear in seconds.
I would put money on the fact that the person who tried to steal your car was most probably from over there also.

Yeah I hear you. I reckon it was a more "opportunist break in" by amateurs as my car wasn't locked and they had more than enough time to get it started. Parking it is the risk I take as its still my daily driver. It was in the main, open lit, busy car park at the stadium and get this...when I asked for cctv footage they said that it doesn't reach out to where my car was parked. It was parked right out the front..what a joke.CLuTZ said:

I suppose the short answer to all these questions is I dont do any of these things BECAUSE its just my daily driver? Heck, my lancer doesn't even have an alarm and I've left it unlocked parked on the road outside my house for the past 4 years! Its only parked at work, gym, church and the stadium (open lit areas) The beauty I saw in buying the Lancer when I did was that hardly anyone here knew what it was. And because of that noone wanted to steal it. Thats why I reckon it was just an opportunist theft coz if they really knew what it was and wanted it, they would've been able to take it by now.

@QUKNEZ - How difficult was it to get the barrel out? I just got my hands on an old EVO 2 RS rally car and I don't have the keys. I'll likely need to swap the barrel out and have a key made to get it sorted.

Pull the driver door lock out and take to a locksmith, as long as nothing's been replaced previously they will be able to make you a key from the door lockmotogun said:

I'm about to do this myself.
I would take either the passenger or boot lock instead of the drivers door as it is likely to have less wear due to them been used much less often.
Not 100% sure if this would be much of a benefit to the locksmith but that is what the internet told me once and the internet is never wrong.
