CCGSR Transfer and diff on evo 3 GBox ???????

Help Support 4GTuner:

Physically it fits, but its a mix-match of front diff ratio vs rear diff ratio = not good!! You will lock up the front or rear diffs at a certain speed and break things, so please dont do it.
To make it work, however, you have to open the EVO III gearbox up and swap out the EVO III's 63-tooth front diff crownwheel and 15-tooth output pinion with a GSR's 58-tooth front diff crownwheel and GSR specific 15-tooth output pinion. This will make the EVO III gearbox run the same front diff ratio as the GSR gearbox and therefore will be good to use with a GSR 1.09 transfer case and GSR 3.545 rear diff ratio.
Dont be fooled by the tooth count of GSR and EVO output shaft pinions both being 15 teeth. The size and shape of the teeth are different between them and they dont interchange.

you love this type of post dont you Rob!!!

I'll answer too. Yes you can! but not for long :p

Rob know the shit! buy changing to GSR dif in the front it gives you spares from most other VR4's E1&2 and aussie GSR's E3 just sucked arse going to that different ratio.
I'm sure there was a reason for it. Rob probably knows!

why not sell him some of your bits! if you still have any left!

Hi guys i have bought a evo 3 gearbox with a cusco 1.5 way in it can i still change my old gsr gearbox crown wheel and pinion over with out any dramas i am still running the gsr rear diff and transfer.

yes, as long as the gsr didnt have a viscous lsd (highly doubt it)
I have actually dont this myself recently

Yes and no, i was told the GSR shafts are thicker than the EVO, but yet to confirm this, apart from that non lsd GSR shafts are the same as non lsd EVO shafts
