Taken from Exedy webiste:

Drivers of vehicles fitted with cerametallic clutches on the street should be warned not to ride the clutch or try to reduce the chatter as this will greatly increase the wear rate.

what does this mean exactly? does it mean that you should let the clutch out slowly so that you have a smooth take off or let it out more suddenly?

mat :)

It means don't let it out slowly.

It is basically common sense.

The longer the clutch is not fully engaed but not fully off it is wearing away its gripping surface.

it means, launch the sucker!!!

i have to slip it slightly, dont ride it though

im sure u would be doing it to...

sorta like riding it for like 1/2 a second....

I have a four puck brass button clutch in my gemini rally car, the best way to get it moving on the street (and the best way for the clutch) is to keep the revs as low as possible (about 1000 rpm) and let the clutch out without slipping it too much cause it will chatter and jerk like a mofo. So basically you are just idling along without the clutch pushed in and then you accelerate away. Certainly not the quickest way to get going (but its a gemini, its not quick anyway) but its by far the best for driver and clutch and you don't get pedestrians laughing at you thinking that you can't drive as you bunny hop and chatter away from the lights.

But for a heavier car, might require abit more slip and a bit more revs, especially if you have a light flywheel.

Its mainly high rpm clutch slipping that chews puck clutches out.
