Hi all ive recently changed my rims for 16x7 and 205/4516 tyres and since ive done that i started hearing like a metal on metal rubbing noise when the car decelerate's but as soon as i put my foot on the clutch or put in netural it stops. Ive changed the oil and used the genuine mitsi additve but still makes noise. ive checked the cv shafts and they dont seem lose aswell as tie rods and suspension and sway bars. the front left coilover has shit itself but i dont think thats the problem. ive checked if the rims his the trialing arm and it doesnt. Im gonna try get it on a hoist to see what it is but does anyone have a clue of what it might be?
i also tried another set of rims and noise is still there but not as loud. any help or ideas is much appricated.

im thinking maybe axle or diff is stuff hope its nothing major, im so close to selling this car nothing but problem after problem

WOW, my car started doing the exact same thing when I put my new wheels on, exact same size as your as well... it's like a chuffing noise, not really worrying.. But that's fucken freaky!

he puts bikkies out every night, and they never get eaten...
Hahaha ill give that a go lol

wow that's weird, have you figured out what it might be?

Is if only on decel? If it was the metal cover around rotor it would be constant. If your saying it then goes away if you push clutch in it sound gearbox/clutch related. Check your gearbox oil. But those noises are normally whirring noises.

Lets hope it's not Brian's cat, then again it would explain a lot.
If it is the cat I'll have a 12000 winch soon and could use the practice at removing things which are stuck

I asked about a similar problem also, mainly heard at lower speed in 2nd gear.. all I got were answers that had no relation to the problem..I may as well have posted it on facebook ffs ..

like Gianni said... it could be clutch/gearbox related ....might be a bearing has shat itself...

Ive still got the same/similar noise that you appear to be hearing also.. I checked all my wheel bearings so Id say its not that...

when was the last time you replaced your clutch? .... maybe the throw out bearing is stuffed

Having difficulty changing gear when cold? .. getting in reverse?

You guys started it. he said it was making a 'funny' noise.

What you have to do is isolate the noise. if you changed wheels and it makes a noise, change the bloody things back for the first test. no good changing the brake fluid is there.
Put the car on stands and try to make it do it.
Drive it past a helper and see if he can pinpoint it.
if you want people to guess your noise, then ask. if you want to find it, then you gotta look for it.
bearings go woowoo and get louder when you go faster. things they rattle don't have oil in them.
If it only noisy when driving then its driveline. if it is clutch or engine it will do it driving or not. and will be in every gear.
if its only on corners, is it right or left. get a spotter. and drive past them. they will tell you if its front or rear.
scraping noises are something rubbing, look for shiny bits.
Its not hard, its logical and process of elimination. Replicate the noise then isolate it. test for changes. Don't guess,

thanks for all the help and ideas im gotta go meek on thursday so gonna try put car on hoist and have a look. it doesnt go into gear that smooth when its cold and not sure when clutch was changed but it crunches 3rd sometimes so i think 3rd gear is on its way.
