Do you have to tick a box if your car is "turbo" or "supercharged" etc when you go to change your engine number???

Would they know if it was "turbo" or "supercharged" etc and you ticked no??

As far as I can remember, In Victoria you can just send a letter to Vicroads letting them kno you have installed a replacement engine in your car and as long as it has the same code they just update there records, you don't even need a special form

Change an engine in SA and you have to go back over the pits I think.

In vic you can do it over the phone.

From what ive been told recently.. the new engine number has to be sighted in the vehicle.. ie its got to go thru the pits.

Another thing aswell as siting the number, you have to fill in a form with details of the old engine and of the replacement..... + you must produce proof of purchase for the new engine or they won't do it.......

thats right

they need proof of purchase
and it has to be the same type of engine.

fuck .......

i was at vicroads last week to pay rego on my daily and i told the woman who served me about 'R5OL, how the rego had been suspended due to an uncleared defect, and asked what needed to be done to get the car back on the road. She said that all I had to do was get a RWC and bring that into the office, and that i wouldnt have to bring the car to be inspected...... I asked her if she was sure and she just looked at me as if to say " do i look stupid" (to which i would have replied fuck oath you dumb bitch).

maybe she didnt know what she was talking about :?

or a factory optioned motor:

ie CC GSR
CC EVO 1-3

so yer you can run the 2 litre.. but you will need documentation from Mitsubishi that it come stock in the evolution range of the CC lancers.

phew

thats ok then.... i dont think getting an eng cert would be that big a deal either as ive got everything that came on the car with that motor, in regards to brakes, suspension etc etc

An engineer would fail your car on emissions and cos you have an older model motor in your car.. ie a motor from a 1987-1992 car in a 1994 car.. Dont try get it engineered cos it wont pass on those grounds..

Just try get a rwc and be done with it BUT make sure you get proof from mitsubishi that it came in an evolution motor.. someone doing an RWC wouldnt pick it from a VR4.

Ummm .. I had an early 90's engine in my 2007 Hyundai ...

Let me just say that as long as the engine puts out the standard emissions for the year model of the car, it does not matter of the engines age...

But that is in NSW ...

LOL NSW and QLD are soo dodge!!!

You can get anything mod plated/engineered on cars.. ive seen cars engineered with carbon hoods and external gates!!

Any signs of these in vic and see ya later mate..

Jon

Gee .. I thought that NSW was kinda strict ... Actually am glad I am not in Vic then ... I would have been screwed with the Sonata ...

Well, I didn't have it engineered... I was still playing with the emissions .. Got it to be a pass, but hadn't gone back to the engineer .. Well, and then the project was stopped for the Lancer...

It is the same in SA, you can't put an older engine in the car, ie, you can get a GSR registered in NSW with a VR4 engine, but here they fail it. If they want to be pricks, they can defect you for putting, for example, a series one commodore motor into a series two.

Here, however, as far as I am aware you don't need to get the car looked at if you change motors, providing the car originally came with that sort of engine. The only car I have ever bought with an engine number matching the paperwork is the 300zx. All you need to do is show them the new engine number, and so long as it's an engine that came in the car originally (ie, in my escort, it was originally a 1.3, I got it registered with a 2 litre no worries) then they don't care. It's even better in the country, I'm sure you could get a 350 chev registered in a torana without any troubles at all :D.

They don't inspect the engine to make sure it's the right number, because if you get pulled over and the engine number doesn't match the registration, you get totally screwed over, I think there may even be a fine?
