Hey lads,
i know generally speaking, you get what you pay for, but in regard to intercoolers, so many people seem to be using these $200 "ebay specials" with no real complaints (that I've heard)
I'm starting to wonder, with so many different coolers on the market, is there really much difference between them now? Surely not every single manufacturer uses a different core... (i mean the cheapies)
I'm finding it hard to fork out an extra $400 for a PWR or genuine Hybrid cooler over the Ebay style one.
Any comments?
Mat :)

the guy doing my metal fab hates those cheap copies

i remember my mate aza, he bought one... had a big turbo , tuned etc etc
ran mid 14's

didn't know why, pinging its tits off

he did a pressure test (remember matty??) and the brand spanking new cooler had leaks EVERYWHERE!!!.. all located around the bar and plates where they join to the end tanks

he changed it over and i think its okay now

but just be careful thats all man..
u dont want leaks

Tightass!

Dont go spening all this money on engine, turbo etc then throw a ****** $150 cooler.

My mate had a customer come in with one of those ****** cooler that crumbled and got sucked into the huffer, engine etc

Do it once do it proper a wise man said to me once!
Damm the cost....................

i do remember the pressure test, but don't remember any pressure, just leaks!
i think i've ruled out the ebaypower coolers!

what about an ARE one? 800 bucks for a 600 x 300 x 75, or even a 600 x 265 x 75 tube & fin or bar & plate.......... thats what i was going to get b4 i found the E6 one I got now

if you don't mind me asking, how much was the E6 one and where'd you get it?
I don't really want to spend 800 if i can get away with it, plus less restriction in front of the radiator would be good incase my plan with moving to QLD goes ahead.

4" core would be too thick unless youre building a drag car :p

i got mine for very very cheap ..... right place right time (thanks steve  )

if you look on NZ trader there are usually a few that come up 4 sale every week or so.

Look throught the core through the inlet or exit spigot facing a light.
If the internal core looks restrictive, don't buy it.
A bad internal core will hold back pressure. If an i/c has 15psi at one
end & 13psi at the other end, it has a good core.

Has anyone made a sure fit braket kit to fit them up what issues lay ahead buy fitting such an enormous thing to the front of ones car.
The evolution koyo products used by mitsubishi just dont seem to be available anywhere.
And price comparison to the rest of the evolution range would cost around $1000 new.
We do a piping kit that fitts perfectly to the ebay cooler.
The issue lies in the endtanks 2.5 inch or 3 inch this is where it costs for silicon.
they are heavy but they do cool and it is posible to mount them it just takes ages to do so and there are a few varients.
Somone please start making fitment kits they waste so much time to fit.
And some of the brakets ive seen guys make what a mess!!
