Chipping door handles

Hey guys the paint on my door handles has started to flake off, has anyone ever had this occur, I think it might be due to the handles not being primed correctly, is there a way to make sure it is done right this time?

do it the same we you would do the rest of the car but start from bear plastic

A panel shop I used for one of my old cars painted the handles and then used clear signwriters vinyl over the handel and covered the inside part of the handle (where your fingers tuck under) so thet you didn't get the tonnes of little scratches from your fingernails. Worked a treat. It wasn't something i noticed before but once he showed me, I see the wear marks there on just about every car!

Pardon my expert microsoft paint workmanship but these are the bits i'm talking about.

Any sign writer should be able to cut you out 4 little inserts for not much. I'll be getting some whenever I get around to getting my car resprayed.
