Choice for Bolt-In Fuel Pump

Also worth rewiring your pump so that you can ensure it is seeing 14v (if you have not done it already)

Very worth while exercise and rather simple to do. All figures for the aftermarket pumps are quoted at 14v not the 12 or less that is supplied to the pump throught the std wiring loom. Have a look at road race engineerings website for fuel pump figures just for an example of the flow rate differential at the differing voltages

just did a search on re-wiring and cant find a detail write up. read thru some DIY and got no idea what he is talking about haha!

i am not really good in circuits so i am quite worried about this rewiring thing..

Bread and butter for an auto electrician! The hardest part for them is the mounting of the relay- so even if you can do half of it yourself, you're laughing!

Have a read through VFAQ's or search for 2g dsm fuel pump rewire and this should give you a guide. Also look up fuel rewire in search http://4gtuner.com/site/showthread.php?t=7&highlight=fuel+rewire
For the mounting location of the relay I chose under the drivers seat through the transverse seat mounting rail. Your fuel pump supply +ve wire is blue black and comes off the wiring loom and through the floor gromet under the seat. If you have any form of alarm on the car that cuts fuel supply then more than likely you are further reducing power to the pump (just for more info). However as Clutz says if nervous then a sparky should be able to do the job if you can point them in the direction of what you want achieved.

Also howc I noted you are in Perth. If you are keen to do it then let us know as can offer guiding hand if needed.

yea gonna search for more guides before i start DIY. i am just wondering as my O2 sensor is leaning out at the beginning of 4.3~4.5k rpm so VR401 suggested i change fuel pump or do a re-wiring.

just wanna make sure, would re-wiring be enough to ensure sufficient fuel pressure thru out the rpm range or am i better off getting a walbro.

yea Dr rvr, i will let the perth guys know if i decided on rewiring.

ok, did a bit more searching and i might go with TRE fuel pump.

Did some read up and seems like it is a decent pump for application below 500HP. Above that figure then will have to advance to twin walbro pumps. It is US$70 + shipping+ 1year warranty so looks like a real good deal to me.

Would like to know if anyone got any feedback regarding this pump before i pay for this.

Id stick with a walbro personally as they are more known and proven.
That said i haven't researched TRE pumps so cant comment on them but a fuel pump is something i wouldn't worry too much about price when a genuine walbro can be had for around 140 posted. That's what i paid for mine.

Be careful buying off ebay as there have been many fake walbros on there.

Guys, i know RVR HSG is sharing the same fuel pump with galant but which year galant? im about to order fuel pump for my HSG thru ebay but there is several galant series.... can anyone gve me the installation kit no. as well ?

Thanks.

Walbro GSS342 Fuel Pump. 255 Litres/Hour

so i assume galant uses the same fuel pump through all its series.

alright! time to stimulate the economy!

Another vote here for the gss342. I run mine with 700cc injectors and a sard FPR. Can't fault it, and the Walbros are a proven, direct fit. Just make sure you get a genuine one even if it costs you a few bucks extra - buy from someone reputable, and make sure it has all relevant codes, stamps, dimensions and weight.

my blue/black wire has zero voltage at cranking over/or with the key on the on position, and there's no fuel getting to the rail. Is this caused by a dead relay ( the big gold double relay bolted to the ecu ? )

RVR is dead and sitting in works compound atm.

Stupid question, but can you swap out the relay with another one that looks similar (from a wreckers or something) and test it?
