Hi guys, just a quick one; my jdm vr4 cooler is an absolute brothel, really needs a clean; whats the best/easiest way to clean a cooler? Is there much work involved in getting it off/on etc?

Thanks

- Anth

Get it acid dipped, then some autosol and either a dremel or some elbow grease!

Check this one out on my old VR4, looks mint huh! When I got pulled over, the cops were adimant that it was aftermarket!

wow.... its making me reconsider spending money elsewhere [I'm so tempted to just go aftermarket...] That looks really nice mate.

They flow pretty well yeah? What kind of power outputs can they handle? May just upgrade end tanks/piping size.

thats a pretty good idea, but there would be some good gains to get by upgrading the factory piping, especially the thottle body elbow!!

VR4 cooler should be good for 300hp if you enlarged the ins and outs to 2.5 inch, not much point if your going to retain the factory plumbing though!

just go aftermarket.....
look at my install.....wasnt really that hard....and the power difference is quite a fair bit, it is really noticeable and if u plan on runnin more boost i would definately say aftermarket :)

just use the factory piping as well.....been small kinda has its benefits since it wont be as laggy as using larger diam pipes

You are able to buy a bolt on replacement for the throttle body elbow...

I got mine from Ebay. I would recommend some metal piping, especially over the 16+ year old rubber hosing on there now.

Cut the throttle body elbow.
I did

60mm straight in..then join it with a 2 1/4 in. 90 deg smooth bend.
Mine felt like it had a new highflowed turbo on it afterwards.
All my coller piping is 57mm RS pipes and an RS cooler.

Noticably pokier.

pulling up an old post here guys... but it is on cleaning an ic...

cleaning one internally... ive heard some people use petrol and or alcohol to clean the oily film that time has built up... basically pour a bit in... cup then ends and shake it all about... you do the hoky poky and you turn around... thats what its all about...

in your opinions is it a good idea...

i use four cans of super cheap degreasser and visited the local car wash bay and "borrowed" their water blaster :D

then i let it dry for a day.
