Hi guys,

Have come up against my next issue with the gsr.

I have modified the aftermarket intake manifold to suit an s90 throttle body so I could retain stock idle control.

I couldn't get it to idle properly and couldn't figure out why.
Until I looked closer at the throttle body and discovered the plug for the isc had smashed against the clutch master and broken off the motor.

There is no point just putting a new motor in as it'll just happen again. I have a set of poly mounts to go in that'll possibly fix the issue or at least help.

What I'm really wondering is:

1. Is there a shorter or different shape clutch master
2. Is there a shorter or different shape isc
3. Is there a remote or reverse mount clutch master option that is suitable for the cc lancer

Or can anyone confirm that the poly mounts will reduce movement enough to fix the issue?

bad pic attached but shows roughly the space I have.

1. Is there a shorter or different shape clutch master
Yes - you can purchase different length master cylinders. You will have to expect that the mounting points will be different though, as most aftermarket cylinders have their mounting positions in a vertical orientation, whereas on our standard cylinders they are on a diagonal.

2. Is there a shorter or different shape isc
Not that I am aware of. I would be hesitant to put a different ISC on the throttle body, purely because it is those sort of things that f**k you up and make the car not idle properly or throw error codes etc.

3. Is there a remote or reverse mount clutch master option that is suitable for the cc lancer
Not a factory option that I am aware of. You could make up a complete custom aftermarket setup but that would require alot of line, fittings and fabrication work to make it fit.

Most people that I know who have gone with the S90 throttle body and an aftermarket intake manifold have gone with an aftermarket ISC setup. At the end of the day, you might need to put this on your list of things to consider too, but I believe that might involve an ECU change to suit?

Thanks Shane, any links to a shorter master cyl?

Yea I'd like to try retain the stock isc stuff because that was part of the reason I went back to a stock frame throttle body.

Might have to do a custom plug adaptor. solder directly onto isc and make a mini tail with plug to your ecu

I purchased my Tilton master cylinders from Racer Industries. There's a tonne of different options available on the Tilton website.

The 75 series looks like the go, the isc plug was hitting the reservoir so the remote mount reservoir might be the go, any idea what size bore is required for our cars?

I wonder if I could remote mount my existing reservoir?

I was wrong, I just went and had another look and the engine rocks and the isc plug clips the end of the master cyl so I would have to get a shorter master cyl rather than just relocating as I thought above

Tilton do a short cylinder.
Yea I think the 75 series will do the trick, I had just seen you can also buy the remote mount stuff on its own, but I went and had another look and the plug had hit the end of the master cyl and not the reservoir so definitely will need the shorter unit as you say :)

Thanks Baz but as above the whole cyl needs to be physically shorter.
