ive got a daiken clutch in my car atm and its starting to slip in 4th and the friction point is all the way at the end. im just wondering what clutch you guys would recommend. i was thinking just a excedy heavy duty but i dont know if it will be enough. cars got an evo 3 motor with catback, k&n panel filter and running 11 psi atm. i was gonna wind it up to 15 psi. i launch the car quite often and hit the hills atleast once a week. also where would you guys suggest i purchase the clutch from?
Regards

Which gearbox? I'm using a std organic plate with a exedy sports racing cover. Making 200kw's on a 2.3l daily driven, and 4-5 track days. Been using this clutch plate for about 2.5 years so far.

i have searched for the past few days. i just want to know ppls personal experience on team4g. thanks for the link btw
Regards

I'm using an e3 driveline, and its an awesome setup, the pedal is a little heavy compared to most, but driveability is amazing.

I love my clutch for a near stock car, as you'll see by my ramblings on gvr4.

Clutchnet 2500lb plate wiht a kevlar disk.

Not hard on the foot compared to other clutches ive felt, take up is smooth, can be slipped and has a great feel.

But if i dump it it'll grab from a stutterbox launch and either spin a wheel or bog the motor if i dont bounce it enough.
So i slip it a bit then let it out and i love the way it feels.

if you going to do much more you'll need a more serious clutch like somone said on the other thread an act 2600 with a street disk go well in the states, and the disk handles being burn and once cools down is fine to be belted another day, from what people say.

hmmm arent exedy clutches now anodized pink not painted pink?? could be a fake... just call supercheap auto or your nearest spare part store and get a exedy from them, at least you will know its not a fake.

Nah they are painted now, more of a powdercoat actually. I've seen excedy Racing ones that are almost chrome, and std ones that are almost chrome, so now idea what colour rank means.

An excedy heavy dtuy will easily handle the 15psi in an Evo 3/gsr. No point going to expensive clutches till you actually need them. I had an excedy H/D in my vr4 with 200kw atw, launched it A LOT, constant hills runs. Did about 12000k's on it, that clutch is still in there with new owner after 20000k's.

I was just using the std heavy duty. Apparantly their heavy duty cushion buttons are quite good, easy on the foot, can slip them when launching and still hold some high HP and punishment.

mines a HD Std setup Im pretty sure

also check the pivot ball and fork, it was a faulty item from factory in the early VR4s, Evos etc

i was leaning towards the standard heavy duty! and also replacing the pivot ball and fork. thanks for everyones input

awesome BMGTZ i think im just gonna get that one. thanks for your input and everyone else who has shared their experience. much appreciated
Regards

Veleo clutch

I used just a heavy duty clutch setup but got a Veleo clutch plate.at the time i got it ,these plates had a lot more materiel width. e.g the o.d. and i.d. of the plate materiel was a bigger difference than say a pbr clutch plate, so the veleo used all of the pressure plate surface area, pbr is only 3/4 of the area .never slipped for ten years and 100,000km.but that was a vr4 powered magna running 14psi.daily driver even towed trailers.

i was told by meek and NPC that the cushion button clutches are no good as the wafer springs under the ceramic plates expand when the clutch gets hot and as it expands it pushes out the ceramic plates and you get a non release of the clutch... which sucks cause that was my next option.!
