I got one of the SPEC Stage 3+ full face/sprung clutch and pressure plate combo (Part number SM483F) from Titan Motorports in the U.S as an alternative to an ACT2600 after reading these types of reviews on DSM sites (last couple on this page): http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=166657&highlight=act2600&page=6 . There's a few people who had a problem with theirs (probably treated them like crap) but overall they're generally getting better feedback than the ACT's and have a lighter pedal feel. I havent ran mine yet so dont ask for my feedback  You can buy them cheaper now from elsewhere...

whats the idea of that metallic/carbon disc? how does it compare to ceramic?
how many pounds is the pressure plate?
do you know how much torque its rated to?

1. Metallic/Carbon is a composite carbon clutch and is high temp rated like a ceramic clutch, grips just as good as a ceramic, but its composition is a bit more durable and drivetrain friendly than a ceramic so its not as harsh on your flywheel.
2. Over 3000lbs pressure plate (but lighter pedal feel than an ACT2600)
3. 500 ft/lbs torque

3000lbs but lighter pedal than 2600? I've been reading nearly everyone on DSMtuners/DSMtalk saying that the pedal is really light, I wonder how they've achieved that.

If Titan Motorsports sell and recommend them, I suppose they can't be too crappy!

They're just another option to consider that you probably didnt know existed. As stated, I havent got my car on the road yet but when I do it'll have over 400ft/lbs of torque and I would be able to advise how the clutch performs. You could always get it in the meantime and tell everyone else as I'm waiting ECU wiring still to get done  Make sure you get the Stage 3+ "PLUS" full face sprung model and not the Stage 3 six-puck version.

Did you get the lightweight version? Do you know which bit is actually lightweight?
How much did you pay for yours if you don't mind me asking.
The going rates seem to be ~US$450 + US$90 shipping

I dunno what you mean by lightweight, just that they say its lighter pedal feel so you dont have to push as hard on the pedal as you would with an ACT clutch, plus it would mean less strain on the crank bearings.

I bought mine early last year from Jack at Titan Motorsports when the $AUS was only 0.73 US cents!! and cost me $700AU delivered to my door. It was $425US for the clutch kit plus $125US shipping = $550US delivered to my door. By todays currency that $550US at 0.92 US cents is only $595AU!! which is a bargain!!! 8)

Here's a couple of pics of my SPEC Stage 3+ . If that clutch surface doesnt look like it grips I dunno what does!

Comments:
Remove rotating mass with our lightweight clutch option for $79.!
That was taken from the SPEC Clutch website.

I've also seen something mentioned about Aluminium Pressure Plates.

There isn't many coils in the springs on the clutch hub when compared to other models, I wonder why that is, and what effect it has.

I didnt see that option when I bought mine. If the Stage 3+ is too much for you, the Stage 3 on its own with the 6 puck disc also gets some good feedback and is cheaper. However, the price of the 3+ is very good at the moment and being a full face unit it would be better suited for street as well :)

The lesser coils in the clutch hub would normally mean more stiffer clutch engagement (think of lesser coils in a coil spring suspension component). But it depends basically on how they built them as the spring could be tempered harder, softer or thicker giving it different compression charateristics. There's actually 2 coil springs in each section of the hub, a smaller inner spring resides inside a larger diameter outer spring

Here's some more recent feedback worth a read if it would help you decide on a 3+ as your next choice http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=180384

Well my shiney new clutch and braided line is on it's way to my house :)

Has anybody had trouble with the clutch forks in our cars? I'm trying to work out whether it's worth replacing it now or not.

WOOHOO!! Finally someone else got one and can tell the rest of us how they are. My car should be kicked over before Xmas (or so I was promised by the tuner) so I will yet have to get the car engineered, EPA'd, rego'd and then 500 miles worth of wearing in the clutch before I can give it a good test. You'll beat me to it no doubt so please keep me in the loop :D
