Anyone here going along??

Incase you dont know they have changed the class format for this year, in an effort to bring people to race and get more bums on seats come race day. Here is a quick run down of the new class situation from off the Sport Compact website.

In 2008 some of the field sizes barely warranted a class so we have combined a couple of classes going from 13 down to 9 classes. Street FWD, Street RWD & Street AWD have been combined to give us Street Compact. Street Compact is basically designed for street type vehicles running 11sec or slower with either treaded or slick tyres. It'll run on a DYO bases and will be broken into ET brackets depending on the field size. eg. 11sec to 12.99sec and 13sec and slower. By making this class 11sec and slower it will address some of the safety issue we had with 8sec cars racing a 14sec car.

Super Mod and Extreme classes have been combined to give us Modified Compact. Modified Compact is basically designed for vehicles 10.99sec or quicker with either treaded or slick tyres. It'll run on a DYO and will see vehicles with similar safety requirements competing against each other.
We have also introduced a new class called Outlaw 10.5. Similar in concept to Gas Motorsport Street 289 it is a limited tyre size class. Unlike the American 10.5 class our Outlaw 10.5 class will use a measured 10.5 tread width tyre. Outlaw 10.5 is open to any vehicle with a maximum of back half chassis modification with any engine combination. We believe it'll become a new home to the V8 Pro Street V8 guys along with sport compact racers looking to step up from Gas Motorsport Street 289 or Modified Compact. Outlaw 10.5 will race heads up with a Pro Tree and weight breaks will apply depending on engine combination.

Im hoping to get back out once or twice before this event for bit of practice if anyone else is keen.

Also to enter for drag racing only its only $60 which is only $10 more than a wednesday street meet, and i know which one id preffer to be racing at.

Hey Marc, keep an eye out at WSID tomorrow night as a little birdie told me that the yellow ZALOOV coupe is going to have a run ;) Its 2.4 now and I think Robbie's gonna be running C16. Here's some pics I took of it at a local dyno day :)

Ahh nice, im working down there tomorrow night so ill keep an eye out for it.

If he runs quicker than 12.00 ill be asking him for some cash :p

He ran a few years ago with a 2 litre engine and got an 11.1. That was when it still had the coupe front end and a 50 shot of NOS.

After the sedan front end conversion he threw in a 2.4 litre setup (no NOS I think?) and it has been kept a bit secret as to how much power its making ever since. Recently he couldnt resist giving a 300kw+ GSR a run and by accounts from the GSR owner it was pretty close with the yellow beast pulling out in front due to a missed gear change. Since then its gone back for another tune so who knows??? Maybe he's aiming for a 10.xx this time and get kicked off the track first go? :)

Well yeah, look the way the rules are is simple, if you run 11.00-11.99 you will have to buy a super street licence or you cant race anymore for the night, you can buy a super street at the track and continue racing at a cost of $150 but thats for a year and then allows you to race at friday night meets and all other ANDRA sanctioned events.

You run 10.99 or quicker, no second chances im afraid, you will have the sticker taken off the car and you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RACE until the car has been caged and all other necessary safety equipment has been installed and then the car has to be tech inspected by an ANDRA offical.

Ontop of that you will also need a group 3 unlimited licence which will require a medical etc etc.

If he does go and it comes to this ill make sure im pulling him up so i can have a good look :)

He should hit the 10s with this setup, keep us posted Marc

LOL @ the 3rd pic u posted, you can see my old red colt in the background... SH!TBOX

Next year, they are only doing two rounds for the sport compact series this year, the first being next weekend at WSID, and the second being Jamboree at Willowbank later in the year.

4 Rounds

1. Vic, Heatcote - Summerslam
2. Qld, Willowbank - Minijam
3. NSW, WSID - Compact Attack
4. Qld, Willowbank - Jamboree

Its because of the lack of numbers and it just wasnt becoming feasble to run all of them, so they have brough it back to two rounds.

They are just scaling back, because of the lack of entrants the last couple years.

Yeah the pro-street guys always put on a good show too even tho its not my cup of tea :)

I think EVLJOE should make it in his Satria :) You can pretty much discount ZALOOV in the yellow coupe though. He was over my place yesterday and I'm certain he's snapped both rear driveshafts inside the rear hubs. He also called me later that night to say that on his way home his waterpump failed and dropped water everywhere so he's taking his car to his engine builder this week. He also hasnt got the roll cage in yet either so it looks like he's not going to make it. Pity though, he would have beaten his previous 10.98 in Feb for sure.

well whoever is keen post up, i will be meeting a few guys from the coast and we will be cruising down together, already have 3 cars and a few undecided.

we will be leaving the central coast at around 7:30am, i wanna get there as soon as gates open..!!
