Compressor cover question

Is there anything to be gained by going from an 80mm inlet to a 100mm inlet on the compressor housing. As the inlet tapers towards the comp wheel, they both end up the same size anyway.

having the 100mm inlet means you can get more
air to the front of the turbo, also the taper might increase the
air speed into the turbo.

so i guess it depends what restrictions you have at the moment as to
how well it will work, if it is the turbo holding you back then it should make
a difference
