not sure if i've posted this in the right section or not but anyhoo.. mods can move it to the correct section if need be :)

jeff from techsport uses a guy to rebuild the gearbox on any car that needs it... does anyone by any chance know the contact details of this person?

you can PM me the details if you like if you dont want to post it up here...

He is a private person.
He will not do it for anybody off the street.

You will have to go through Jeff - techsport / Darren - ex afas / George - Dougmo

Otherwise Andrew from CVAP is also a gun with this stuff.

This has been covered before not sure the cat was let out of the bag due to that business being trade only, but someone might post or pm the info
You wuill find the guys detaiuls have been kept private as they dont deal with individuals only business to business so not sure if they will help you out even if you do end up with the details.

Jon

ya never know Jon....sometimes us old guys cant remember we know you so do it any way:lol:

If you have no luck at all, there's a gun gearbox builder here in ballarat too. I know it's a bit of a trip, i'm sure there's other guys in melb :)

If all else fails, MEEK do box repairs.

But I'll tell you now, its cheaper and probably faster if you buy a second hand box!

rebuild kit is $340 from Meek :)
Then you'd probably add another $50 for bits and pieces like washers and the specific sized spacers.

Really depends how farked the box is i guess.

mmmz i have a broken box ive been thinking about fixing.. its a w5m33 GSR box... first syncro is farked...

from your experience alex.. how long would it take for a beginner to fix? had to set preloads etc.. ?

Jon

honestly john, its alot of ******* around!

I've rebuilt my box, and didn't do it right first time :fuuuuu::fuuuuu:, had to take it out and redo it again!! And we all know how much fun it is taking a box out of an engine bay with a '63t in it!!!!!!

Probably better off selling it for parts or something.

That being said, if you want to give it a go I have the spare parts (synchro's) that you need to rebuild it! LOL!

Mate - ring Andrew at CVAP. He'll do it properly and he's rates aren't that bad. He does top quality work and as far as I'm concerned there's nobody else I'd trust with that sort of work on my car.
