converted to Ball Bearing

Help Support 4GTuner:

For the money you will spend on trying to get it done.. it wouldnt be worth it.. Just buy a turbo that suits your application. and it doesnt have to be ball bearing.

Keep in mind. Ball bearing turbos are classified as race turbos and if the core dies prematurely, there is no warranty and alot of places wont replace them for you.

You also have problems rebuilding ball bearing cores and majority of the time its a replacement core.

Do yourself a favour. Go buy a TD05h-16G off the shelf and be happy with the factory item..

DO NOT BUY A PIECE OF SHIT ITEM FROM EBAY FOR CHEAP CHEAP.. Else ill get a mod to delete your account :p Jokes

I believe that someone in NZ has converted tdo5's to BB.
But it is an expensive exercise, I would just get something along the lines of what Matt suggested.

you can do anything, but if your going to do it use the 16G and the B is for more of a family car and the G is more for race/sports

probly be cheaper to change to a garret BB anyway though

there is a place in NZ and a place in the UK

i belive the UK place cost around 2500 to have one landed here that is a
td05 with 10.5hotside TI internals and ball bearing how ever

so would be a very quick spooling sucker

i have been looking around to do this and i have been told there is a place in melb that can do a full custom 20g with ball bearing conversion for 3000 so i have been thinking about getting this but not for a long time as my goal is to 1st hit the limit of the stock turbo :p

LOL I wasn't even thinking of it.

Getting a TD05h-16G would be better cost wise and as you said it's a factory item.. so I think I'll go that way as this was just something I was thinking of and wanted info on :?

it just all depends on what you want out of the turbo

like with me im more after no lag and just a good power band

at the momment turbo starts spooling at 2200 and is at 1.4bar by 3600 and holds that till 7000rpms before droping off a bit till 8500

so yeah i got a huge power band and is alot of fun in 3rd HAHA

Yea that's expensive!

Might aswell get a Garrett 35/40 ball bearing, which is what I have.

.63 ex housing sees me spooling at 3500rpm and full boost by 4000rpm.

When you shut the engine off you can hear the turbo spool down which means fucking business haha 8)
