So basically im about to do a few upgrades to my car but im wondering if a set of cams could be to much for my gearbox. Mods being done are hks head gasket, arp head studs, hks timing belt and tdo6 20g.

The pistons n rods are stock. My gearbox is a stock vr4 running fwd.

hmm yeh i know but im trying to avoid it if possible just trying to find out what power limit they can handle. Thinking cams might be to much torque...

My setup has 272 cams forged internals and 20thou over and runs fairly high comoression , only issue ive had with Gearbox is cracked bell housing but that was due to improper fitment. However i have seen some gear sets that have been chewed to bit , i guess its in your driving style too and being ur fwd not awd i dont think u would have much of a problem with Gearbox. Only problem i see would be traction hahaha

If its a awd box locked to fwd with a vce then you will have trouble with the centre diff. You can weld your centre diff and then your box is stronger than the fwd one.

Also your cams will make little difference to torque. It will make more hp furthur up the rev range. More boost and bigger engines make a far greater impact on torque.

I'd be looking at ways at getting traction before trying to extract more power out of it!

I owned a Galant GSR with 216kw which was damn fast- but only really in 3rd gear and up

From what ive seen of the box its stock with a plate covering where the tranfer case was lol. Yeh traction in always gonna be a issue.

ive got good suspension and good tires atm just have to see how it goes after same suspension tweeks. Goes threw cvs tho...
