CUSTOM COLOUR FOR MY GSR????

Hey ppl i'm still undecided about a colour for my car... i wanna do a full custom respray to the whole body of the car... not sure when it will be getting done... prob at the end of the year if i'm happy with my car n the new motor.... I was going for a Peral Black Or a Pantha Black, but the guy told me all these bad things about black n scratches n stuff... but i think it would LOOK so hot being black n it would also suit my car interior... but yeah i'm still not sure...

got a quote already from one place but forgot there name... n dont really wanna advertise them if they dont do a better deal! but if their is any GOOD places NO DOGGY places... but a great place that does a awesome job i would love to know where... ONLY IN MELBOURNE

mmmm yeah thats not to bad.... but i can see the price jumping alot with that kinda colour... saw one on a VL... Looks so good... NO it is good... Might see the price difference... Suits that supra VERY WELL

Experimenting with white pearl and adding tinter can give you good results. I custom made up my own colour "Kryogenic Blue" from using PPG white pearl and a cocktail of other colours :lol: If you have a rough idea on the base colour - blue, red, yellow, green, gold, etc you can start adding tinter to white pearl and get the final colour you are happy with - but remember to write down everything you put into the mix unless you wanna do another full repsray sometime down the track :wink: Best thing about going custom is the individuality and being 100% happy with the colour. Worst thing is colour matching, especially if you run out of paint or have an accident etc :roll:

mmmm sounds good need a few numbers though so i can call em... so fair the quote i have is $6000 for a black... but i've gotta take EVERYTHING out the car for them... ALL windows door trims... dash, wiring EVERYthing so its a bare shalle... but to me thats still alot... or thats what i'm looking at in the colour choice??? $6000

if they were to do everything he said pro $9000-10000
i was like OUCH... but if more ppl know of good places... want numbers n location...

Not doing the respray now cause i wanna make sure i'm happy with the power first... then i will get the paint job...

You could get a MEAN paint job for 6k, and get them to do it all themselves!

I had a quote for a custom kit, respray, shaved door handles, shaved trunk for 10k .. And I thought that was a bit over priced ...

greengsr is a spray painter you should ask him for a price he is doing mine to give you an idea what he can do

Unfortunatly buddy, 5k onwards is the mark for a good respray these days!
Gone are the 2 thousand dollar days of spray jobs that included engine out + spray the bay!


I was going to reccomend a place.. but if you think 6 is expensive you sure as hell don't want one of his quotes :lol:

His work is perfection though

Be a bit weary of the quotes that come in at $6,000 etc. It's usually an indication that they don't really want to do the job. I got a few of those quotes when I was looking around for someone to paint my Gemini a few years ago.

In the end, I ended up going to Nomad Automotive in Shearson Crescent, Mentone, opposite Rank Rotary. They are behind the Moorabbin Airport. Call 9584 4828.

My panel beater who's here in BALLARAT works regularly on Porsche, Ferrari, Mercedes, BMW, Oldschool muscle cars and rods. That's all he does basically. His work is also -perfection-, but he'll want your engine out.

I can tell you right now you're looking at $5k regardless of colour though. And it's approx a 4 week job to be done right.

mmm sounds good but i need a place that is not to fair EG the city... as i will need to get the car towed n dont want a $200 bill to tow the car... but then again i could put it onto a trailer....

i have gathered 6 more places that i might try... i'll post them up n let u know some of their prices as it might help some of use...
