Hey guys, how many of you fullas datalog?

I've just gone through the painful process of having to source the equipment to use for datalogging in my GSR.

I went to Jaycar to get a hotlink serial port connector, for my Palm M515 and they told me that they dont have them?

I then went to a speciality shop and they wanted $48 for one of these?

Has anyone else had trouble with sourcing parts for outdated PDA's?

If they're so outdated, why arent the parts dirt cheap???

you can make these for next to nothing if your handy with a soldering iron. try find what cables these are and what plugs and il run down to the local altronics and pick up the parts and have a crank at it

uh...

are you talking about the serial cable that comes from the palm, or the datalogging cable from the car diagnostics port to a serial plug?

the later is easy to make, the palm to serial is not so easy unless you bust up a docking station or something like that.

Oh yeah, does anyone know how to create a screen shot from your logs, or even access your logs from your pc??

I hotsync my palm to pc, but for some reason I cant access the palm's contents from my pc!

$50 is normal man.

The older they get, the harder it is to find/support.

I can make you the serial end cable, but i dont think anyone would be able to make you the other pda connector end.

I bought my motorola usb cable for my phone from ebay, the quality is pretty poor and works sometimes. Just a few days ago i got a new genuine cable, looks much better, but still.. the design of the connector on a e398 is crap i guess...
