I have decided to run my TD05 at 18psi boost on my 4AT Chariot GT and expect the tranmission should go slippery or burst later


I have spotted and last decision to do MT swap or IPT auto transmission rebuild

I have long assume mine is a 7 bolt 2G engine and ask my local car workshop to find MT conversion kit for me however they just couldn't find those as they comment EVO 3 was only produced a vy limited numbers back in the 90's. (They got lots of VR4 MT kits but not EVO3 MT kits which is such a shame)

Now I spot my auto transmission is W4A33 so is that really a EVO3 gearbox can fit my motor?
If that so, I guess I can only run such high power and boost with IPT transmission?

If I have to keep running 4AT I plan to spend some budget on these small widgets that may make my ride more similar to manual cars, do you know how to install these and any alternatives?

Interesting founding:

The auto transmission on my Chariot GT was also used in the ancient 6G72 DOHC Mitsubishi Diamante

Maybe in there is a little hope MT kits for Mitisubishi 3000GT may fit mine?

But of cause if you tell me a 1G transmission from Mit VR4 can fit my motor then I shall be always very happy and do the MT swap asap!
 
The ability to use GVR4/1G transmission in RVR, will depend on which style motor mounts your RVR is using. In '93 (US market) they changed the way they mount engine/transmission. If you have a newer scheme, you can't use earlier transmissions because they lack provisions for transmission mounts.

For newever wagons (as your appear to be from the photo) you will need 2G transmission (and I suppose one of the 1-3 EVOs might also work). But a GVR4 tranny will not work.
 
Yeah, the 1G Transmission will not fit for model car.
The EVO 1 -3 type Transmission will fit but you must change transfer case, rear diff and drive shafts.

Best bet is to source and fit one from the same model car or source one from an American car called Eclipse 2G
You must check final drive ratio that are the same.

Stick with the manual conversion or you will be telling yourself later why didn't I did that in the first place.

If I really can get hold of all the mechnical stuff but cannot get the mt harness and mt ECU
Will it be all fine to keep running with at harness and at ECU ?
Shipping a full mt is costly from us is what my FDs always against
So I just thinking strengthening my auto tranny by changing ahit kit or clutch disc from performance parts maker
Since I only plan to run about 300ps on this car so maybe the auto tranny is capable enough ?

Build auto transmissions for the drag duty is the latest craze in the US. When properly done, they can be quete effective, but... IMO, devoid of any "fun factor".

The trick is not to over do to! I have a friend who switched from 5am to an automatic and did way too many upgrades at the same time. Now he is having problems and can't figure out what is causing them... He has been at it for two years now and still no luck. And he is willing to spend money and had advise from top AT experts.

Anyway, to answer your question, you can run AT harness in a 5sp car. The only tricky part is finding a correct back-up lights wire, which tends to stump many people (seems like it should be easy)
