Die hard Mitzu.... or could you Subaru?

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

For me the subaru is too hard for the average person to work on. And I don't want to pay $400 to have a valve cover gasket replaced!

I'm fairly sure my next turbo awd will be something without inherent drivetrain problems.

Which pretty much leaves skylines and uber expensive euros.

Good replies allround so far. Interesting.

Yeah i love my gsr rallycar. big fan.

My previous road car was an impreza RV hatch, nonturbo AWD. Manual.
Good recce car  and runabout for work (lots of K's) but sick to death of driving a manual in city traffic all day. Missus cant drive manual either. So we replaced her shitbox hyundai and the RV with a 2nd hand low K's 04 Liberty GT Pemium semi-auto for about $40k. Didnt want a wrx, too common and seems a bit pointless as an auto. Kept looking at later Evos, drooling, dreaming. But the need for an auto rules that out without importing some jap freakazoid atoe evo. And again misses the point.

Pretty happy with the compromise so far. The Gt in sport mode using the steering wheel shift buttons is a bit of fun. And a bit of a sleeper at the lights, very understated. Even the wife is having fun, she smoked a new monaro at the lights already :D

I could drive a WRX no worries, just all about cost, I nearly bought one a couple of times but then the GSR came up and has all I've ever wanted in a car, only downside is its it goes to fast, so in the city have to watch out for cops/cameras to much! I dont think I would drive a FWD car, esp. a turbo as touque steer is bad enough in a NA Kia Rio! My other car is an old Celica, can always have fun with old school..

i'm not really too fussed about it all...

i only bought a VR4 because I like them, not because it's a mitsi.

I don't mind WRX's too much, but they're a bit boring, and they're so common.

I'd love another rotor, but for now I'm happy with the VR4.

anything Honda and im there. 8)

cant really go back to a FWD performance car after having a 4WD tho. that would be DEVOLUTION

Mitsu fan. I woudn't turn to the dark side. I did get the VR4 because I liked the car though, not because it's a mitsu. If I was forced to upgrade or upsize, I'd be looking at a later evo (1-3 seem a tad small) or a Legnum... *drool*

Not all AWD's are better either. We recently got a brand spanking new Subaru Forrestor 2.0 at work and I sat in it for the first time today with only 1100kms on the clock. Sorry to say that the interior is bland as all fark and quite boring, and there is a dead spot in the engine when accelerating. It understeered a lot going around a roundabout and overall I found it a huge let down. My Mrs' fwd Proton M21 coupe handles shitloads better around corners and seems to accelerate harder

i was lookin for a suby forrester gt wen i came across my evo couldnt imagine havin another car love the bad boy but i do like 05 sti's an id have a gtr problem wrx's are the next generation vl turbo they are everywear evos are a bit unique bit of a class above the rest

having said that if i bought another jap supercar nsx-r all the way

it handles better than the vr4
but its not nearly as fast

thats easy....i would rather shove hot coals up my pee hole than drive a WRX......

mitsu power all the way! i dont think i will buy any other car besides a mitsu in my life! :D

best cars in the world in my opinion...and 4g63's are the greatest four banger motors of the 20th and 21st centuries!

cheers! :)

my golf r32 handled better than my evo.

my evo is a lot faster in a straight line than my golf tho.

im still spewing i didnt get to purchase the 400kw atw wrx lost out by 2days.

was devastated after that and bought my evo.

the wrx is now pushing 500 odd kws and runnin 10s

:(

good luck with that gearbox

awd turbos of which the vr4 is a good affordable option - quick for real world use, reasonably durable, good parts availability.

ideally the peugeot 205 t16 - see the link

the suby forester xt is entertaining, but slower thru corners because of the roll potential.
