Hi all,
So I had a split radiator hose going from the bottom of the radiator to the engine on the drivers side. Just replaced it, refilled the coolant and went for a drive to the shops about 15 minutes. Everything was good, parked the car got out and but decided to straighten her up - stupid turning circle!! Put it in reverse pulled out, then went to put it in first but no go. Pushing the gear stick to the far left then up feels like your hitting into something and you get a metallic sound before even getting close to engaging the gear (no crunching or anything) if I don't push all the way to the far left I can sneak it into first.
I'm assuming I've knocked the gear linkages or something but I don't understand why it worked up until I parked unless turning the wheel to full lock has pushed something somewhere. On the drive back home it did improve but then got worse again not sure if that corresponded to turning the wheel or not.
Can anyone explain what's going on and how to fix it.Also there's a fair bit of free play in the gear stick, you can move it around quite a bit without any resistance, not sure if it's related or not..
Cheers
Chris
