Hey guys,

I thought this should be posted up - a DIY install guide for evo rear foglight install into a GSR. This was made by Dean to show me how to install these lights, but thought it would help the wider community so hope you don't mind Dean :D

STEPS

1) remove the GSR reflectors from within the boot using a 10mm spanner or socket. The GSR reflectors are held in with one 10mm nut and two plugs/clips which easily come out
the gsr boot has a big indent in it, to allow for the extra bit in the Foglights where the light bulb goes

2) Grab a pair of tin snips, and start cutting out this indent

3) Once thats done u have to drill one hole for the top screw mount, like so...
X marks the spot

You'll also notice 2 bottom screw mounts also have holes in our boots to slip straight in

Then, heres the finished product

Also shout to BMGTZ (Brian) for providing my set of fog lights and at a good price posted.
Also theres a set on ebay at the moment for $175 guys:

Meh I just got me a bootlid with em already in, and a EVO 2 spoiler on top!

yeah thats pretty good man

that wouldnt work out for me though because no evo came factory in charcoal so id have to fork out $$$ for respraying an evo boot the right colour.. was easier and a lot cheaper for just foggies and small amount of time to install

Yeah I know aye, my car is grey as well, bootlid is white, thats where Harry the champ comes in! I've wanted a E2 rear spoiler for a little while, to go with the front lip!

Ok guys, I have a genuine rear foglight switch and about 20cm of wiring coming from it (has been cut of course)

Im not 100% sure on how to wire this thing up, so hear me out

The wires coming from the switch are 4 wires:
Two red wires (i think one of them might be red with white stripe), one green wire, one black wire.

The foglights (globe holding assembly) has two pins coming out of it for a plug to go into it but couldnt get plugs for them so im going to rig something up... but nonetheless each foglight has two pins coming off them.. one positive one negative makes sense.

does it make sense to do the following

Connect one red wire from the foglight switch to the positive on the left foglight, connect the other red wire from the fog switch to the positive on the right foglight. Then the second pin on each foglight - connect them both to a grounding point.

Then with the other two wires left on the switch (green and black), make the green wire a 12v power source, and the black is a ground

??

SIVART can you do me a favour if you get the chance.. can you go to the boot of your car and see what colour the wires are for the plugs going into your rear foglight globes

One wire to the back of the switch will most likely be for the dash illumination power and another will be the earth. The other two are probly the swich circuit

so just to confirm, when can you turn on the foglights using the switch - like if you press the switch do they only actually turn on when you have parkers/headlights on?

or do they run of permanent power/accessories/ignition ?

yeah I would have them only able to be turned on with parkers, the globe in the switch should be off your dimmable dash light circuit.
I think that is how it should all work!

cool thats how i hooked it up last night - to the illumination wiring in the dimmer circuit.

but the reason i asked was because i wasnt sure if genuine evo2 and 3s work different. i.e. foglight switch only activated the rear fogs only once parkers were turned on, OR if the fogs came on even with the car off and lights off (permanent power)

nonetheless im happy the way it is - i wouldnt use the fogs without the parkers or headlights anyway. ive put 5w globes in them and use them as a second set of parkers. ill take pics later :)

sorry guys I havnt gone down to see my car this weekend :(

but im going next weekend :)

but yep the headlights have to be on before they will work, they turn off with the just parkers

umm. ... can someone please tell me what's the purpose of rear fogs? is it just for illumination like the corner lights/parking lights, or used as break lights, or litterally used as fog lights but are for the rear? I have no idea what they are used for hehe... how much($) do rear fogs usually run for?

btw i dont understand why you guys hook them up to the dimmer switch, do you guys control the brightness as well?

in Japan I think there is alot of thick fog during winter and its hard to see, so the fogs are really bright and warn others behind you
