 I am so pissed off. I had my car at a workshop last year for a few months to have my icoola piping and zorst done. Whilst it was there they welded up a new frame for my oil cooler and oil filter relocation kit. Now they never fully plumbed it up for me even though I supplied most of the fittings, and they left it for me to do which I was happy with as I can do that myself to save $$. Anyway, after finally getting all my Earls pushlock connections and hoses last week I started to fit it all last night. When I got to the oil pump the fitting on it snapped off whilst I was doing it up, leaving half of the fitting still left inside my oil pump  Lucky I have a set of easy outs and had one thick enough to put into the hole and remove it fairly easily :)

BUT damn mutherfkr dodgey workshops piss me off  I originally put the fitting in brand new and it was fine. From the photos you can clearly see that it had been GLUED TOGETHER. Can you imagine what could happen if this broke off whilst driving at high rpm? I cant believe a workshop could be so blatantly stupid and skimp on something like this that could lead to total engine failure worth many thousands of dollars for the sake of a $16 part. Thank GOD I found this out now before I got my car on the road. I've checked the other one and its fine.

It's times like this that make me glad I build my own engines and do nearly all the work myself. If I could weld properly I would never take it to a workshop EVER.

That's very sad indeed.
All they have to do replace a $16 part or at least tell you that it's broken.
But no, instead they're reputation is down the drain.

Yeah imagine gluing it back together

Mate that is just playing with fire doing that. $16 and an apology saves a lot of hassles for a workshop not to mention time and $$$$$.

Bet it was the apprentice and never said anything

My car has never been to a workshop while I have owned it..........Maybe thats why its still too slow

Please keep the workshops name off the forum and take it to PM if you must  Just getting in early....

Just make sure you get the hose's on the right connections so the flow of oil is correct, a recient mate just bought my old engine 93t as it happened to him wrong piping connected to remote oil filter housing and engine went dry then POP.

Na, havent spoken to them yet as it only happened last night and they arent open weekends. Yep thanks for the reminder Wicky, I did that last night and made sure the sandwich plate inner hose goes to the oil filter relocation inner and the same with the outers. All's good because my main worry at the time was 'fark I hope I can get that thread out' and I had no trouble doing it which eased my mind :) Ordered another part for it today that I can pick up during the week and finish it off next weekend... properly! If anyone needs to know what the part number is if they ever look at using the same for -10AN connections, it's Earls# 9919FJ (M16 x 1.5 Male thread to -10AN fitting). Oh and you can use either crush washers or even better Earls Stat-O-seal (Dowty seal) washers

Where did you get your fittings from?
I'm waiting for a '90 oil filter housing and I haven't got my lines and fittings yet. I priced them from Extremepsi and it works out near to the same price to get them here.

you can get the hose from most hose suppliers. just open the phone book and ring a few ppl in your area.

I'm not sure on the oil temp but the pressure should not get over about 100psi cold if you have removed the balance shafts and haven't ported the oil filter relief valve.
The hose should be good for 300psi with a burst pressure of 1000psi, thats what I got anyway.

The oil temp in my vr4 (J spec with factory air cooled oil cooler) gets up to 120 degrees C. My temp sensor is in the head, I would expect the oil to be a fair bit hotter after it passes through the turbo though.
