mccr or ozcruise vic division.

My votes with mccr, the founders and one of the current still admin used to organise the werribee/laverton/west melb illegal drags. Went to them a bunch of times as a 15/16 yo.

its a new article, they just brought up an old topic

yes, the club is mccr..
i know the 2 people involved in the accident..

the s14 was owned by one of the mccr dudes.. had massive apexi stickers on it, not a bad thing back then (they were quite new)

the prelude dude was a friends cousin, meant to be quite a quick prelude also

i've heard stories from both sides, supposably the mccr dude (dont want to mention his name) was cruising with his mates (mccr guys) and then the prelude joined into the cruise, he claims that the prelude driver was doing handbrake 360's on the freeway etc...

anyway, i was told they were racing and the s14 guy wouldn't give way to the prelude dude (merging lane) and they were side by side and bammm.. no other option but to push his way though...

anyway, i think the s14 guy now owns a gtr r32...
as for the prelude guy, he now owns a crap box honda..

but who knows the truth, **** happens..
this was the when the crack down on drag racing started, all the new tight ass laws etc etc..

It was. That was the accident that killed evolutionM.net's founder, Mark M. The accident also killed his girlfriend.

I tried to bring up the old thread that showed very graphic shots of the car after it had been recovered, but it no longer exists.

If you guys saw those pics, you'd think twice about speeding again.

 those who drag race on the streets ought to have their cars taken from them because ultimately, one day, something WILL happen and its putting not only themselves at risk but innocent others as well. Racing on the streets???? No way - you wont catch me risking losing my pride and joy that I have spent so much time and money on to the police or in an accident

I know it happens in my town on a regular basis where a bunch of people would meet up and dicuss venue options or send a text message on where to meet up every weekend - I just shake my head as sometimes people I know get involved and they ought to know better  And yes, it's the under 24 yr olds (just telling it like it is). Years ago when I first got my licence and attended a few as spectator I seen a car do a U-turn at the end of an illegal drag strip at night and get T-boned by another car that was currently running on it!!! Both guys lived... luckily it T-boned forward of the firewall off the car on one but the guys legs were mangled and was on crutches for months. You can take every precaution possible, but you cant control other idiots on the road who do stupid things without thinking

With dragstrips organising regular drag meets now, there is no need to drag race on the streets anymore :) It's much safer, there's no other cars or people on the road, and emergency facilities are readily available.

If you call racing at the light "street drag racing" then i totally disagree. Accelerating in a straight line to the speed limit as fast sa you can is not dangerous. You're more likely to get in an accident if u dawdle across the intersection.
Accidents happen. Remember the legal organised drag racing where the guy smashed into a wall and died because they put it on backwards? Just because it is illegal doesnt mean its unsafe. You just have to use common sense.

I remember that- what kind of car was it again?? Some sort of customised car or something? Wasnt it in australia too?

It was at a main dragway, cant member where. It was a WRX, he did what he was suppose dot but stupid organisers ran it backwards so there wasn't enough runway left to stop.

It was Todd wilkes in the yellow "judge" Giocatola. It was a V8 twin turbo(750HP) and the organisers ran the "exhibition" run backwards and was doing over 300km/h before braking and he could not stop in time and subsequently ran into the concrete wall and the car burst into flames. :(

RIP Todd Wilkes.....
