Well with the EVO3 AFM + pod + straight intake pipe + sort of cold air box
only managed to improve my time my .080

Here is my final run (and fastest 14.537)
http://bumpy6.customer.netspace.net.au/Datalog/2005-07-29_Run_6.xls
Other runs here (first 2 where practice)
http://bumpy6.customer.netspace.net.au/Datalog
Now i have SFA of a synco into 2nd left and first run i missed 3rd
And i have a SHIT load of knock (is it real :?), tryed adding more fuel with SAFC but only got slooooower

Im trusting people on this site more these days then ClubVR4  so advice ? to get rid of knock (is it real and get into 13'sec's

You all know my mods if not see here

I prop wont reply till after midnight :( (working shift work  )[/url]

its obviously a tuning issue

for some reason, stock ecu's just dont cut it here
even when used with SAFC

ask gavin.. (chaverz)

whats the reason for knock?
any idea?

inlet temp seems cool
what fuel are u using?
what injectors?

any intercooler piping leaks?

so many possibilities

whats your fuel pressure?

Sounds like a timing issue to me.

Does the SAFC alter the AFM reading only? If it does then you need to realise that what you are doing is effectively increasing the load value the ECU sees and depending on how much and were you are increasing this value, in an attempt to add more fuel. Don't foget if you increase the load then you are effectively altering the ignition timing map for that particular RPM point.
If the SAFC doesn't do alter AFM signal, then disregard all off that.

Troy, could it be a coincidence that both of our cars are down on power, and we both use the same type of injector? (PTE)

Amberley said that they could only manage 186 atwkw because it was detonating with anymore timing........

Maybe one of us should pull our injectors out and get them flow tested?

injectors are maxed out at around 5000rpm, that cant be good. Perhaps theres too much fuel in the top end? As a comparision i ran a 14.1 and my inj % maxed out at round 78% and thats with 450cc.

With ur larger inj at 100% u seem to be using alot more fuel to go slower. Another thing we need to do is alter the code in ur chip to half the mas value before it is sent to the logger so we can read it above 1603hz.

I would imagine u would be getting a fair bit of heat soak waiting at the line with air temps above 50deg.

Also ur knock doesnt seem THAT bad, the ecu only begins to pull timing above 15. It definately isnt phantom knock if u were wondering. Perhaps ur knock sensor is feeling its age, u can get em new from here http://www.diamondstarmotorsport.com/maintelectronics.shtml .

Perhaps it might pay to see if u can borrow a wide band from someone and see what ur mixtures are like

coz i was having issues also, but i believe it was due to timing

only making 160kw's at the wheels with 22psi on a 23g tdo5/6
doesn't sound right does it

what sort of spray pattern do they have? twin nozzle?

single.

Yeah well it could be, i'm boosting 22psi and only making 186kw's atw.

Could this be the problem? It'd be intresting to find out, does anyone know anywhere in melbourne to get injectors flow tested @ a decent price?

I'll be the guineapig! All I need is some tools to take the bloody things out.

i know a place in huntingdale..
its not expensive

i could do one of mine also =)

wouldnt you be better off doing the whole lot? It could be just one of them not spraying properly........

One of the guys on galantvr4.org was having terrible probs with his injectors and i PTE were the brand.
They were supposed to be around the 650cc mark and he had them flowed and they didn't even come close!

I'm only running 450's with 45psi base and i'm making over 160awkw at 91% duty on a 280hp turbo.
No way in hell should you be close to maxing 600+cc injectors to well well over 220awkw if the tuning is good.

Get those babies checked!

Thanks guys

we need to do is alter the code in ur chip to half the mas value <send it up and ill use it ;)>
Perhaps it might pay to see if u can borrow a wide band from someone and see what ur mixtures are like <once FP goes in ill check/tune SAFC on the only AWD Dyno here>

WOW this is alot more responses/help then i would of eva expected at ....... :)

My gearbox problems dont help the suituation either :( But the casino has been good to be, so replacement should happen soon.
The ECU has a MRT chip in it (maybe this is the problem  ) If someone wants to write me a new one which we can customize a bit more, im open to suggestions.

make an intake tester
i cant stress this enough

cheap and worth every cent..

its on vfaq under intake..

yup, that would be one of the first things i would check. With ambient air temps like u have up there, it only takes a small boost leak and ur air temps at the throttle body can get pretty high.

I put forward the theory that this is the first RECORDED and publically available case of an MRT chip being useless.

Keydiver chips (www.dsmchips.com) are spectacular (plug straight in like mrt chips) or so the guys on galantvr4.org say.

Also, jon is working on doing something to this extent but i've not heard more on it since it was in planning stages. Perhaps he'll update you.

Got the injectors flowtested today at a place called powerflow in ringwood, cost me $15ea.

Results came up fine
