Hey guys i was just wondering if anyone know if an AWD DSM gear set will fit into a EVO1 case? Or if anything will. I'm looking to get longer gearing. I find the evo gearing a little to tight for what i want.

change the crown and pinion in the evo box to a gsr ratio....3.545. then you will need a 3.545 rear as well. Pretty easy job to do and easy to get over here. all the ratios in the gearset will remain the same but speed in each gear will rise.

I have a gearbox crown and pinion and a complete rear diff in my shed if you want to go that way. I am not sure how you would go for limited slips to fit though

Take a 2litre GSR for a spin to see how you like the 3.545 gearing.

Yep, if he already has an EVO rear mech LSD he can keep it. I put an EVO rear LSD inside my GSR rear diff housing using the GSR crownwheel and pinion and shafts. Now its a 3.545 ratio mech LSD rear end :)

In the EVO gearbox, if you change the diff ratio to a 3.545 from a GSR or VR4, you will lose the LSD in the EVO box. It's one of the drawbacks, but cruising, top end speeds and quarter mile shifts are improved.

The ring gear on the front LSD is pressed / heated on is it not?

I can't reall remember.

Couldn't you just swap them over and retain the front lsd?

no front crown is not pressed on, still bolted, the viscous has a much larger bolt up to the mech lsd. i am pretty sure if its mech lsd it will still bolt up fine.

Yep MrCyborg is right. The EVO viscous LSD in the gearbox goes bye bye when you put the 3.545 ratio in. You can however install a mechanical LSD if you want. Not many do, but the option is still there.

Sorry guys i dont quite understand what gear you need to replace in the evo box to convert to 3.545 ratios?
brian mentioned 'crown and pinion', do you mean the crow/pinion on the front diff??

so just use a gsr front diff, sell off the evo LSD for $$ and you're sweet!

front LSDs in an awd is over rated anyway :D

i agree with the comment on front lsd. some times too much traction can be a PITA.....

would it be possible to take a fwd gear set and put it into my trans? this would give me the gearing i'm looking for.

youll find that the pinion on the awd is different than that of a fwd. the awd one is hollow to allow for the output shaft
