okay i'm sure you have all had this discussion i was unable to find info on the specific's though.. I've been looking into E10 its cheaper than 98 and burns at 100oct so i was wondering is it fine to run on my evo 3 and will i need a retune to compensate for the different burn rate and mixture? just abit of info the guy i bought the car off said it was tuned for 100oct fuel if that helps.
cheers

are you talking about the united 100 octane?

I run my evo on it and have found decent power gains over 98due to the e10 content.
If the car has been tuned for it then keep running it?

yeah i mean the united one, i havent actually used it yet but thought i'd ask might chuck some in and see how it goes after i get my (gearbox) issue fixed.. cheers for the info

just thought i'd mention he said it was tuned for 100octane but that was for when Vpower straight fuel was 100oct not sure if that makes a difference?..

what have you been running it on?
I take it its dyno tuned for the current setup? what ecu or form of tuning?

If you unsure of the previous tune being a new car, id just pay for 3 power runs on a dyno and look if the afr looks safe and they dont pick up knock

You sure E100 is 100 octane?

I thought it was regular unleaded with a bit of ethanol, that's why it's cheap.

Ethanol contains less heat energy per litre than petrol, therefore E10 will theoretically increase fuel consumption by just over 3%. However, ethanol has a higher octane rating (129RON) than petrol so the addition of 10% ethanol to regular unleaded petrol (ULP) raises the Research Octane Number (RON) from 91 to about 94.
This improved anti-knock characteristic can allow an engine to operate with greater efficiency. The ability of an engine to use the extra octane efficiently depends on the design and calibration of its engine management system.
Ethanol also cleans fuel systems and burns more completely, reducing the build-up of carbon deposits and providing long-term benefits.

E85 is about 104
