Hey guys im kyle from new zealand and i've just picked up a E39A VR4.

Car needs abit of TLC but over all its in good condition.

Engine was rebuilt around 50,000kms ago with the body doing 280,000kms.

I have just fitted 510cc injectors as there was 450cc on it and i've fitted a factory e39a ECU as the other computer wasnt working well.

The car has trouble idling (sometimes its fine) and it will just stall on me. My mechanic has no idea whats wrong with it but i think it may be the inlet manifold? maybe i need an ECI MULTI instead of the cyclone?

It also feels like the car is not boosting as hard as it should???

Im keen to put money and time into the car as i love it already but im not the most experienced with mechanical things..

If any has any suggestions about whats wrong with the car please let me know because im keen to learn!!

Also does any one know the specs of my vehicle??

Mods:
3 inch exhaust
waste gate
510cc injectors (yellow top)
TD05 16G

Cheers guys.

Im not too sure to be honest. I do have the 450cc injectors and another ECU that came with the car but it still didnt idle properly with thoughs in it.
I replaced them all with the 510cc injectors a genuine (evo 0) ECU and AFM but still the same thing? My mechanic seems to think its an electrical problem some where in the car but has no idea where to start.

It was running like a lawn mower this morning and it completely cut out on me at the lights. Its been with my mechanic all day so i'll see what he says when i pick it up.

Hi Kyle and welcome :)

If you have replaced the 450cc injectors with 510cc injectors and a factory e39a ECU it's quite likely that the ECU is expecting 450cc injectors and so is causing the car to run rich.

Check this post for details on ECU model number and matching injector sizes: http://www.4gtuner.com/topic/7402-vr4-models-and-specs/#entry88064

You may want to check for boost/vacuum leaks

Also, try posting some queries in this forum as these guys are experts with VR4s :D

Just put the 450cc injectors in and the car is still not running properly.. Running rich and idling very rough. I'll be driving and my revs just drop and the car shuts off. I almost flood the engine trying to get it started again. It has a new battery, new leads, plugs and coil packs. The starter is also new

Hey Kyle- Reece its shouldn't be the inlet manifold, and the ECI MULTI is exactly the same as the Cyclone manifold just a facelift version. No difference . Pull the steppa motor off and have a look could be burnt out . its attached to the throttle body. Also you will need to chip the Evo 0 single board ecu to compensate for the 510 injectors and evo AFM...

Possible buggered igniter pack. It's an intergrated circuit that drives the coils. On your engine, if it is in the stock location it is on the side of the inlet manifold facing the firewall. When you get a chance move your turbo compressor out pipe. It must get really hot right above the exhaust manifold.
