E85worth the hassle ??

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

Well essentially we're all fucked then. Tune ur car on true e85 and then get a batch with water, detonation becomes more prevalent and boom. With or without a sensor. I suppose the only way would be a factor of safety by assumption of e75 perhaps. That way ur not running ignition for e85 on what could potentially be contaminated. Interesting.

Which is what most good tuners allow for these days.

yes becarefull with them but it doesn't take much to throw the reading off by alot they are a electric hygroscope ie they measure the specific density of the fuel if you notice your reading increasing well beyond an expected level or you e content number is higher than when you parked it would be safe to assume your fuel is contaminated. i wasn't suggesting it as a cure as with all sensors and guages they are there to give you idea of whats going on. and for those of us with older style ecus that don't have native support for e85 flex mapping (map changes based on e content number) the standalone gauge controllers with the 5v analogue voltage out can be a good option

There will be at some point a true alcohol content sensor soon. As we can record blood alcohol content via breath nowdays. So obviously ur exhalation contains water.

Where do you get yours shane? vpw?
I like the innovate gauge and will probably get one for the sake of it, would be useful for after a fuel swap to be sure its close to 85 before stomping it

I've made an Arduino setup, it's about $80 for the continental/GM sensor (same one as in the youtube video) and $15 for the Arduino computer + screen

Seems like a no brainer so will my 1000cc injectors and 044 pump be up to the job to crack the 400HP barrier at 20 psi (387 on 98 ATM)
Ive got 1000cc injectors an a single 044 I ran out of injector at 232.5kw @ 20psi, 2 more psi an it went 260kw but wasn't safe so it's just on 20psi till I get around to getting bigger injectors.
I have no doubt different injectors will perform differently but thats where mine are at. The power delivery an torque is awesome I love it.

Not sure what the 044's are like with e85, sure it will be fine and power wise, the evo has 300kw atw with 1000cc inj.
IMO E85 is worth the hassle indeed, more torque more power, just be sure to flush ya lines to strip the old grime an crap out
What brand injectors are you running? Psi?

I'll hopefully be doing the same thing but to make it worth while I want a decent box and diff first, especially sick of blowing the stupid ayc diffs,
What box are you running?
