Im not 100% but are the evo 1-3 differ from the evo 4-8 ?

Yes, what they do is add another hole for the cam pin so they will be compatible with E1-9 engines.

IMHO there are better gears on the market. Although you will probably never have a problem with these, history has told us that there are 2 reasons why cam gears have failed:

1/ Like the old AEM gears (and these look similar in design), they can shear around the bolt hole 'flange' meets the arms.

2/ The timing screws fail - the old HKS 3 screw design has failed in the past - now almost all gears come with at least 5 timing screws

Had a bit of a discussion here but unfortunately a lot of the links are now dead?

A surefire way to tell if camgears are quality is if they come with 12.9 grade capscrews with decent sized washers underneath them. Worth upgrading to if they don't have them.

As long as the camgear itself fits to the shaft with little slop (<0.2mm) they're usually fine.

i have used them first thing to do is replace the shitty allen key bolts before you even put them on there definately not hks but did work ok for me

I recon the fidanza ones are good design for what you pay. I cant remember what i paid for mine but i was under 300, search for a 1g dsm on ebay.com... not .com.au so you on the american site

All seem to work fine to start off with. It's what happens when they don't work that's the problem. Expensive cam gears are still cheaper than replacing bent valves.

these arrived today

had a good look at them and they look ok apart from the allen key heads which i was planning on replacing anyways. There a bit offset and wouldnt trust them to hold a panel down
