Just wanted to run something by you guys. For those who don't have a turbo car (myself at the moment), I thought it would be an interesting exercise to look at something like the below :

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI...m=270213162925&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=017

For under $50 dollars Australian, was thinking it would be an interesting experiment. Anyone have any comments on this, insofar as would the principle of how it works actually allow an extra 10% in horsepower to be able to be extracted ? Not knowing a lot about mechanics (but learning) I wanted to get people's thoughts. Sensible comments only please. Am thinking of putting it in my '94 HJ series v6 n/a galant.

lmao,
thats got dodgy written all over it.
think about it..if real power was that cheap dont u think we'd all be flying by now?

Now, if it was really that good- surely EVERY car would have them, and they'd cost more than $34.99?

You need to ask for specification, like flow rate (CFM).

As an example:
If this supercharger can flow a max of 100CFM and your engine requires 200CFM at a certain rpm, then its not going to work. It will end up to be a restriction for your engine and you'll loose power.

Now, on a 50cc scooter on cruising speed of 50kph, maybe a different story.

Well its only an extra 10%, it's not as if they are claiming say a 50% increase in which case I'd be particularly sceptical ..... am particularly interested in the principle of whether it can actually work rather than simply speculating that it won't work without being able to explain how it can't .....

my opinion is that if you have spare $$$ go and get it and see for your self how it works, as i don't think anyone in here had one of these but still everyone likes to put 2c about it to say that it's shit.

Oh and i'm not saying it's good or not but the only answer you will get is when you try it for your self!!!

Shit or Good is for you to find out:)

You don't have to explain, its pretty much common sense don't you think?

Does buying a $34.99 "supercharger" mean you are 3.5x more of an idiot than buying a $10 "fuel saver" chip?

Its simply a marketing ploy, designed to rope in idiots. You want me to explain that one too??

I can't see how you can increase power, but save on fuel at the same time? That doesn't make sense! You need three things to make power:

AIR
FUEL
SPARK

Right?

Now, if you increase the spark, and add more air- you're going to need MORE FUEL! So how can that be saving fuel at the same time!???

its not even a supercharger, its just one of those hi-clone type things, that do nothing

OOPPPPSSSSS, so it does not even pressurises the intake system, wheres the gain on that ?

Hey Dre I was asking for ppl's opinions, no need to be so nasty about it ffs ....

I wasn't trying to be nasty, I apologise if you took it that way........

I was trying to get my opinion across, sometimes I don't proof read what I write

what about reducing fuel leaning out your a/f mixtures to make your car run more efficient, but increasing power at the same time? = less fuel & increasing power

worked on a scooter i had.. leaned it out and the thing revved a easy 2000 more revs.. shulda heard the thing.. that was until i smashed the rod... mind you it was only a 43cc :p

yeah but how can a "supercharger" lean out your AFR's??

you tune the car to run really rich before you install it

Yeah but that'd be installed pre-AFM right? So the ECU would adjust the mixtures to suit, and would never run leaner
