Does anyone kno if a EVO ECU will plug straight into a GSR loom? I was looking at a piggyback ECU and the wiring harness can be bought for a Evo ECU but there is no mention of one for a GSR so if they are the same I will be able to just get the already made up wiring loom to plug in rather than the generic version that I would have to figure out were the wires go and solder them in. Any info would be great thanks?

The Evo ECU's plug straight into the GSR loom. They have the same 3 plugs.

You will also need the matching 510cc injectors, AFM and preferably the evo 3 intake with the oval end in it.

Prefer also if you get the ecu chipped for maximum efficiency.

There is more to it however, so wires require modding. And its also different between jap/aus GSR.

I never had to modify wires.

great so which is it?

Well im not going to say Im right and the other blokes wrong if thats what your after.

All i can tell you is what ive done with success.

If [email protected] MPH out of a stock 1.8L bottom end with supporting mods isnt enough for you I dont know what is? :?

Do a keyword search for ECU CHIPPED AFM GSR EVO3 INJECTORS LOOM etc.... and do some research yourself.

There is enough info on the forum to give you the right idea.

Also have a look at my members rides and prehaps Jstyle, Olly, GSRSOLs early days.

Plenty of guys have plugged in the ECUs and chipped them with supporting mods.

Good luck :)

Thanks 3zercrowd, I was looking at just a plug in piggyback ECU, was mainly interested in if I can buy a wiring loom that will just plug in rather than having to buy the universal loom that I would have to figure out and solder all the wires in myself, the available made up looms for the computer lists EVO but no mention of GSR so if I can buy the EVO loom conection it will be heaps easier!

All i can tell you is that i've read about requiring to modify the fuel pump pin and possibly the radiator fan. Think GSRWRC said something about that.

Now when my car got done, the fuel pump wouldn't turn on and car wouldn't start. This was with a Evo1 engine running an evo1ecu on the AUSGSR car. However the gsr ecu still runs the evo 1 engine... Confused yet?

I do believe that there is a slight difference between the evo1and2 ecu to the evo 3 ecu. But with pinouts not being available i can't say.
Either way if you got an ecu, it wouldn't be hard to modify it, just take a little time chasing a couple wires.

never had to change any wiring at all and Ive run jspec and aspec gsr and evo 1 and 2 ecus never an issue straight plug and play.
