Hey guys,

just wondering if there are any electronics people among us here?
I have a mate who wants to set up two LED's to indicate the status of his cct breaker. Green for when the breaker hasn't tripped and all is ok, and red for when the cct breaker trips. This is for spotlights/other electrical accessories. Current loading ~ 10amps.

I've lost my simulation software and tbh I've forgotten most of the stuff I've learnt at TTSI.
Could someone please confirm if the following basic cct would work in this way ok?
I know it's a simple thing to do, but I don't want to get it wrong on him. Just seeking clarification, or perhaps a better idea etc
Also, the red LED is dependant on the low impedance of the bulb filament. Could someone suggest of something for use on something like a stereo deck etc?

LOL, try not to laugh at my crooked components too much, it's hard with a mouse! (lol @ the bulb :D)
Btw I dunno the symbol for cct breaker just used a fuse, but same deal for this purpose. :p

Thanks! :)

Oops I'm an idiot. The base of the tranny for red led is supposed to be tied to the base of the other tranny.
Sorry this was a rush. Perhaps this is completely wrong way of going about it! Maybe someone's already done it before?? ....... *looks at to4garret* :p

I just realised that won't work either. Hmm.
Where is Craig when you need him? :p jk

EDIT: Oh maybe it would if you put the emitter between the fuse and the switch..?

I think I need some sleep!

Hey, that sounds like a really great idea for wiring up the spotties and accessories in my rally car, now why didn't I think of that :D.

Anyone know a source for these:

It would be nice to have a green led to light up when things are working properly but I guess if the spotties are on, then I know they are working properly without having to look down for a green led. Does it simplify things much if I do away with the green one and just keep the red one for when the circuit breaker has tripped?
