Im sure its been covered a million times and what not so I apologise in advance. basically I am in need of some help/advice/guidance with my future build. I've been told that the sonata's have the 4g63 so would that be the best bang for buck engine to get? Im planning on rebuilding the whole thing from top to bottom. The car is going to be build for the odd track days and 1/4mile sprits I do want to stroke the engine, but unsure of what brands to use and places to purchase what I need. I know of tomei and brian crower, is there much difference between the two or would there be other brands better suited to the early model 4g63? Any other info you guys could give me would be really really appreciated as I want to start planning and organising things.
thanks :)

Dont use sonata lol

*Waitin for Jack to respond*

I would look at buying a vr4 block instead.

Theres alot different between Tomei and Brion Crower, Tomei is Japanese made,, Brian Crower is US made

Remember when buying a non evo engine tonthrow in a cc, you will need to buy the extras like mounts, wiring, ecu to make it all fit and go. Sometimes its even easier to buy an evo1/2/3 half cut

I think I may have found a wvr4 complete engine for few hundred bucks if turns out to be a 4g63 and not false advertising should I get it?

so went to pick and payless to check out that engine turns out it is the cyclone intake motor, motor seemed to be in decent condition still turns over so atlease its not seized. Only paid $240 for it and took me and my brother around 2 hrs to get it all out, pretty sure I got a pretty awesome deal.

I haven't got any pics the engine is still at pick and payless everything is ready to come out but apparently they don't take engines out weekends so first thing tomorrow they will pull the engine out and hopefully mid week I can find some time to get it, the engine had a tdo5 20g on it and custom manifold, not sure if that was included but if not ill pay the extra for the turbo

na doesnt come with the box it has one but can't really afford to get it now, But ive got plenty of time to find one i wont be putting the engine in until late 2014 hopefully ill just chuck in the gsr motor i got for now, i didnt know i need the drive shafts they are still with the car

If its from the maroon vr4 5hen the engine should also have an aftermarket fpr on it, the manifold is an ebay job and so is the turbo

I would recommend gettin it rebuilt too

yea it was the maroon one, so the intake is shit house then? that kinda sucks, but I realised when talking things apart that the car might have been on the dodgy side of things. Engine is getting a complete overhaul anyways. How can you tell the difference between fake and real? and do I need to get another cyclone intake or will the normal ones fit the engine?

The cyclone intake is stock. The exhaust manifold is the ebay. They do the job but have beem known to crack eventually

With the driveshafts, you can use GSR gearbox side shaft and passenger shaft without probs. You will need the vr4 jackshaft (middle connecting shaft that goes to transfer case).
Gsr gearbox will be fine to use also :)

Also, i could be wrong, but non-cyclone intake would be better for breathing.
Someone can correct me on this one.

yea im not 100% sure about the non-cyclone intake breathing better would like to hear peoples opinions on them? Well got the engine now but the guys at the wreckers managed to damage the oil sump, they gave me another one which looked like it would fit, but didn't realise until I got home its from a normal lancer so no oil return line on the sump
