I'm a bit annoyed at how many little things are different between the two engines I'm looking at right now.
I'm finishing off an engine to go in an aspec, and want to use a few parts off an 87 j engine.

The j alternator has an extra terminal on the back, can anyone tell me why? I don't know what it would be.

I also want to put the cyclone on. Is it best to just make my aspec coil and transistor unit sit on the side somewhere? I have the right bracket but the plugs for the coils are different, one is 3 pin, one is 4.

Also have an s90 throttle body to go on. The issue I have with that is the idle switch. I can simulate the idle switch with ecmlink, but last time I tried that, the 'catch' of idle revs wasn't smooth or reliable. Any of you dudes using the ecmlink tps-idle sim? Is it just a matter of setting it up correctly?

what Type of TPS are you running on the S90 Throttle? as Jack said you can use the 4 pin tps...

The extra 4th wire on the Coil pack unit is the RPM signal, you can mount all the electronics on the fire wall, and just mount the coils on the intake mani..

The extra terminal on the Alt is not needed so long as both wires on the reg are used...
 
Any tb that doesnt have a idle switch. So evo, gsr, magna tr v6 and probably heaps of other mitsi, hyundai and protons.
Be careful that the plug position in relation to the mount screws may be different and not suit you.
