engine problems... again

gday, ive got an 89 Galant GSR.
After i put a 'newer' engine (done about 100 000 k's) in it (N/A 4g63), it has had some problems
Some of them i've asked about before and a new one has just arisen.

- temp guage is flutterring (cold to normal)

- 'Check engine' light is still always on

- It's started doing a wierd 'cutting out' thing... Especially when i take off, but at random times while driving too. It feels like the fuel cuts out for a split second and it dies, but then it instantly goes back to normal again.
Sometimes if it does it once, it does it a few times in a row...

Any help would be appreciated, i'd like to be able to fix it myself.

Hesitation is a timing or spark issue.

Check your coil, plugs and leads.

Make sure the timing isn't one tooth out.
